Buffalo Empowerment (LightWorker™ Series)
Let me present Rev. Brenda "Silverwolf" Hanlon, who was born in
London, but now lives in a small semi rural town on the outskirts of
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She has 4 children and 7
grandchildren so she has been around for some time. Brenda has
many interests but her principle one is in Spirituality which began
around 1978-79... after her career days, as a Building Society
manager, were numbered.
After a confusing meditation class, where she did not understood
much, Brenda started to read every book on spirituality she could
get her hands on. Many times she didn't understand the concept at
all, neither did she experience clairvoyance or sudden flashes of
intuition... However as the years rolled by she began to understand
more and more and felt guided to investigate "healing" of some kind.
1991 she attended a free Reiki demonstration. Brenda wasn't convinced, but her husband persuaded her
to go along..."just to have a look". The very next weekend she went to a 2 day workshop and earned her
level 1 Reiki certificate. Sometime later she did level 2 and the Teacher attunements.
1997 her husband was diagnosed with cancer. Brenda and 2 friends gave him Reiki healing 3-4 days a
week and he went into remission. They thought they had beaten the cancer and stopped the Reiki
Healing. Six months later it came back with a vengeance. The doctors gave him 2 months to live and were
amazed when he lived for another 2 years... thanks to Reiki. They lost the battle in August 2000 but
Brenda picked up the pieces and started to live again - learning many other healing techniques.
2002 she became the first Australian to be attuned as a Prismology of Light Teacher. She has been
ordained as a Reverend in the Universal Life Church and is also a Priestess in the Order of Melchizedek.
She has studied and been attuned to many other healing and energy systems and have masters
certificates and lineages in all of them which she teach to others via the internet as distance attunements
– see her webpage: www.guidenseek.com
Brenda is "clairsentient" which means she feel things, and she also has the the gift of automatic writing.
Brenda has power, or totem animals who appear to her at various times... they are Wolf... hence the
name, Leopard, Orca and Spider. She adores all living creatures and as an animal empath she can feel
what they feel... a lot of the time this is a very sad experience... there are so many animals who suffer
because of outright cruelty or plain ignorance. Being in so close contact with the animals, she has made
many empowerments, which we present among the …

Introduction
Wolf is and always has been my favourite animal. Even as a child I was drawn to wolf pictures, wolf
stories, wolf ornaments and although I didn’t recognize it at the time, it is Wolf that is my main totem, or
power, animal.
You will find that there is probably one animal that is a major part of your life. Have a look around you
and see what pictures, ornaments etc feature one type of animal. Or is there an animal that just keeps
appearing in your life…in the garden, when you are walking, which one attracts you most at the zoo or
animal parks? This will be your “Power Animal”.
As you go through Life there will be many other animals that come to you, one way or the other…in
dreams, in meditation, in reality and these will be there to teach you something or to bring you a
message. It is useful therefore to understand what properties each animal is there to teach you. We can
learn so much from even the tiniest ant to the largest elephant…it is of no consequence whether they are
insects, fish, mammals, reptiles or even arachnids.
Most of my life I was terrified of spiders. So much so that they ruled my life and I was in constant fear of
finding one crawling on me or in my bed or even on my ceiling.
Then one day I kept walking into spider webs, not just one or two but dozens. This went on for days and I
was getting very upset about it. Then one evening I found a “huge” spider sitting on the glass of my
sliding screen door…on the outside. My first reaction was one of fear and revulsion. However I decided to
study it…from the safety of inside of course…and I found that she was quite remarkable and in her own
way very interesting.
I did this for several days…every morning she would climb up to the eaves and go to sleep and I started
to like her. I even started to talk to her and actually looked forward to her visits on the glass in the
evenings. The more I studied and talked to her the less I feared her and I started to like her.
I realised there was a message here for me and found that she was telling me to untangle my life and
create some order into it.
One evening she wasn’t there on the window. The next morning I went to check under the eaves but she
wasn’t there either. There was not a trace of her web… nothing to show that she had ever existed, and yet
I knew that once I had understood her “medicine”and learned to love, and not fear her she had moved on.
I am no longer afraid of spiders and in fact was tested very recently with a big one in my kitchen…I did
get a shock to see it there but was able to catch it and put it safely outside without harming it. Now I see
very few spiders because they have served me well and helped me…so their job is done. Those I do see
are just around when I need to sort out some mess in my life. I understand this and am able to stand back
and clear my head of unnecessary mess.
This is what animal wisdom or “medicine” can do for you. They offer you a wonderful gift…always
remember to thank them and honour them… they are very precious.

Buffalo Empowerment
There are two main types of Buffalo – the Bison and the Buffalo. There are two types of
Bison – the American Bison or Buffalo and the European Bison or Wisent. Then we
have the African Buffalo and the Indian (Water) Buffalo, of which many are
domesticated.
African Buffalo Asian (Water) Buffalo
American Bison (Buffalo) European Bison (Wisent)
Abundance, Prayer
Buffalo teaches that through right action and prayer or meditation, that one doesn't have
to struggle to survive. By uniting the mundane and the divine appropriately, all that
should be needed is available. Your intent and action must be behind the focus of your
need to see the need met. The spiritual and mundane are necessary to find what one
seeks. The buffalo is a reminder that there is no need to force or push something, if you
have the balance between the two forces mentioned above at work in your goal, the path
to that goal will unfold before you. Do what you have to do then let things take their
course. If you take care of your part in obtaining your goal, the universe will take care of
the rest.
The buffalo is a symbol of abundance and manifestation. Their large heads represent
intelligence of a higher order and their strong bodies ground them to the earth. They are
the uniting force between the mundane and the divine and hold the teachings of right
action joined with prayer.
Both the bulls and the cows have horns as well as humped shoulders. Horns grow out of
the head and extend to the sky indicating a connection with a higher intelligence. Humps
are often symbolic of stored energy locked within the body.
The buffalo's humps are located at the shoulders. In man the shoulders hold our personal
energy which expresses itself through our hands. Whatever we touch or hold onto is
connected to the energy stored in the shoulders. Shoulders carry responsibility or joy.
What we carry within is manifested outwardly. The buffalo teaches us how to eliminate
our burdens by directing our energy in a balanced way. When defending against danger,
the cows will form a defensive circle around the calves and the bulls will form a circle
around the cows. This symbolizes the buffalo's mutual respect for one another as well as
their protective instincts to defend and honour life.
To the Plains Indians it was a symbol of
sacred life and abundance. It gave the
gift of life to others by sacrificing its
own. It provided meat for food and
hides for clothing and shelter. When
tribes prepared for a buffalo hunt
prayers of gratitude were offered up to
great spirit. After the hunt ceremonies
were performed that honored the
buffalo's spirit. Without the aid of
buffalo these tribes would not have
survived the harsh winters.
Buffalo's can be unpredictable and dangerous when provoked. Those with this totem need
to remember to see the good in all things and not let their frustration store up inside
them. Tai Chi or martial arts would be of benefit on a daily basis.
The buffalo reminds us to give
thanks for what we have, to respect
all life forms and to honor the
integrity of our own divine essence.
It is a symbol of equality, sacrifice
and service and can show us how to
live in a state of understanding,
acceptance and joy. It helps us
release our self pity and awakens
abundance within our conscious-
ness.
Buffalo is a powerful medicine to have and serves as a stepping stone towards healing our
imperfections and reconnecting with mother earth and father sky.
Your Totem Animal
Once one is familiar with their Primary Totem Animals (Power, Theme & Mission), the
next step in absorbing the Wisdom & Lessons that they are beside us to teach, is to merge
our intent and will with the Totems. Following are the initial three steps in this phase of
the process, crucial links in building the connection between we of the Two Legged, and
our Animal Allies.
Please keep in mind that these are only the preliminary stages of the integration process,
as merging with the Totems is a life-long process and one not to be "forced" or rushed.
Through studying Nature and Animals (both first-hand through wildlife encounters and
learning more about individual creature beings), we gain clearer insight into our inter-
connectedness with All Things, as well as better understanding their unique Medicine and
Role along the Web of Life. Having clarified that, the following three steps may assist in
the beginning of a profound and beautiful journey. ~Akita Mani Yo~ (Observe everything
as you Walk)
Welcome & Acknowledgment.
Much of Earth Medicine is based upon recognition and respect . . . recognition that we are
All Related to All Things (Mitakuye Oyasin), and respect for the Great Mystery & the
Mother Earth and for all that which ~They~ create, nurture and provide. Respect and
reverence are shown to the Animal Spirits in many ways, the first of which is through
acknowledging their wisdom and medicine, and then welcoming them into our Sacred
Space.
After the Totem Animals have been called by name, welcome them into your Sacred Space.
Give thanks to them for their Wisdom, and for the Role they fulfill beside you on this
current Earthwalk.
Wotawe (Totem Stone)
The next step in the process of merging with one’s Animal Totems, is to obtain a Totem
Stone or other image of that Animal Spirit. This can be an image that is either carved
(from wood or stone), or one that is drawn (a painting, photo or sketch).
Dream Time Encounter
This method is the final of the initial three steps and involves an encounter with the
Animal Totem in either the Dream Time, during meditation, or while conducting a
visualization. For a Dream Time encounter, prior to going to sleep, program yourself by
asking that Animal Spirit out-loud to reveal him/her Self to you during the night. It is
important in all of these instances to keep an open mind and heart so that you do not
enter into the experience with preconceived notions or expectations. Allow the Animals to
reveal themselves to you.
Upon coming back from your Dream Time meeting, make notes as to the experience in as
much detail as possible, keeping a log of all such encounters. The same holds true if the
encounter is had during meditation or happens fluidly, without conscious eliciting. The
third alternative is to create an audio tape of the following visualization, spoken into a
tape recorder in your voice, and conducted at a time when all is quiet and there are no
other energies "awake" in the house to disturb you. The best time for this seems to be
either late night (eleven to one a.m.), or early morning (3:00 to 5:00 a.m.). The following
instructions that are typed in brackets (), are to be taken as instructions to follow during
recording of the tape, and not to be spoken out- loud or recorded on the tape itself.
Visualization for Connecting with Animal Totems
(Speak in calm, reassuring voice)
Close your eyes and visualize a white light streaming down from above you, encom-
passing you in a cone of White Light. This is a protective Source that will keep you safe
and protected at all times. Only your Guides, Angels, Animal Totems and Beings of Higher
Intent who wish to protect, guide or instruct you, will be allowed any contact or
interaction with you at all. (Spoken in a gentle, relaxed voice, speaking clearly and slowly)
Now begin to feel your body relax, each muscle relaxing, tension slipping effortlessly
away. Breathe deeply, and with each breath in, feel your body relax more and more. With
each exhale, you feel the tension slipping away.
Begin counting from one to five, and with each number that you hear, you will drift deeper
and deeper into a state of complete relaxation. When I reach five, you will be in a deep,
meditative state in which the images will come easily and effortlessly to you.
One, going deeper and deeper, feeling your body relax.
Two, deeper still, feeling the muscles in your body relax.
Three, as you go deeper into a state of relaxation, your heart, mind and soul are open to
the positive experience of encountering your Totem Animal.
Four, deeper and deeper, getting closer now.
Five. You are in a state of deep relaxation, safe and protected by the White Light and can
awaken at any moment if needed, yet you are comfortable, peaceful and so relaxed.
Envision yourself now, getting up from where you are and walking to your back door. You
open the back door and as you look outside, the scene is not the usual familiar one.
Instead, you have been transported through time and space to a magical place, another
plane or dimensional experience.
All around you is a lush and rich field,
abundant with grass and wild flowers of all
kinds. As you step away from the familiar
surroundings of your home and walk into
this garden paradise, you can feel the
warmth of the Sun enveloping you in golden
light, can smell the scent of pine and
intoxicating flowers in bloom.
Walking through the field now, you marvel at
how the sunlight streams through the trees
surrounding it, creating ribbons of dancing
light and speckling the surrounding flora…
As you walk through this field, you suddenly
hear the crackling of twigs and crunching of
undergrowth that signals the approach of an
Animal. You stop and await the emergence of
the Source of that sound, and as you peer into
the dappled sunlight of this magical field, you
see a Buffalo appear between two trees.
He/She stands gazing at you with inquisitive,
intense eyes, and you feel a familiarity, a rush
of warmth and joy.
Taking one step forward, you send out a welcome to Buffalo, love and respect going forth
from you to envelop this wise Creature Being. Now, Buffalo takes a couple of steps closer
to you. You then take another step or two toward him/her, and in this manner, you
alternate steps until you are within an arm’s reach of this beautiful Animal Spirit.
Next, Buffalo walks right up to you, and may greet you with perhaps a lick of the tongue, a
brushing up against your body with His/Her own, or by some other form of
acknowledgment and greeting. You respond by stroking the Animal Totem’s hide with
gentle, loving caresses. Now, you stand before Buffalo and embrace him/her. A miraculous
thing happens . . . you feel the energy, the Medicine of this splendid Creature Being merge
with your own, not just encasing you in love and energy, but melding and blending with
you until you see that they are no longer a separate entity from you, for the two separate
forms have become ONE.
Feeling an overwhelming peace and joy, you begin the journey back to your home, and
upon entering your dwelling, you approach the nearest mirror and gaze into it. There, in
the reflection gazing back at you, you see that your face has altered slightly so that the
Buffalo within is also apparent, His/Her features overlaid over your own.
Now you know that you have blended and melded with this Animal Totem, once more
offering respect and thanks for their joining with you. Begin counting you back from five
to one, and on the count of one you will awaken, refreshed and revitalized, in closer
connection to that Spirit Ally with whom you have merged during this visualization
process.
Five, feeling peace and joy sing in your soul
Four, content in the knowledge that the Animal Totem has merged his/her purpose,
wisdom and intent with your own, and you with His/Hers.
Three, thankful for the opportunity to share this Earthwalk with this beautiful Animal
Spirit.
Two, feeling your body gradually shift and begin coming to consciousness.
One, completely aware and present in the moment Awake.
Again, be patient with both yourself and the Animal Totems, for establishing the
connection takes both time and dedication, though the experiences and joy that are had
along the way, are richly rewarding and exhilarating.
