Day 1 – Word Recognition & Vocabulary

Review / Motivation Flashcards: Show pictures of ant and
grasshopper. Ask: 'What do you know
about these insects?'
Learning Activities Introduce 5 new words with pictures.
Choral, pair, and individual reading.
Assessment Learners match the words with their
pictures.
Reflection “Today, I learned new words like ant and
grasshopper.”
Assignment Copy and read the words at home.
Day 2 – Phonics / Word Attack Skills
Objectives Apply phonics skills in reading words with
blends (gr-, pl-, fr-).
Review / Motivation Sound drill with blends: gr-, pl-, fr-.
Learning Activities Teacher models sounding out → learners
read words: grass, play, friend. Fill-in-the-
blank exercise.
Assessment Read 5 unfamiliar blend words aloud.
Reflection “The sound I practiced today is gr-.”
Assignment Write 3 new blend words and read them at
home.
Day 3 – Guided Reading & Comprehension
Objectives Read and understand the passage 'The Ant
and the Grasshopper.'
Review / Motivation Recall vocabulary from Days 1 & 2.
Learning Activities Teacher reads the story aloud → Shared
reading → Group reading → Silent reading.
Ask WH questions: Who worked hard? Who
played all day?
Assessment Oral reading checklist (fluency, accuracy,
expression).
Reflection “I understood that the ant worked hard
while the grasshopper only played.”
Assignment Re-read the story at home and tell it to a
parent.
Day 4 – Application / Enrichment
Objectives Demonstrate comprehension through
retelling and creative expression.
Review / Motivation Recall of story and vocabulary words.
Learning Activities Group activity: retelling the story. Learners
draw their favorite part. Independent
writing: 'The ant is ____. The grasshopper is
____.'
Assessment Checklist: retelling, drawing, written
output.
Reflection “The best thing I learned this week is to
work hard and not waste time.”
Assignment Read a short story at home and be ready to
share next week.
