WHAT IS FALSE CEILING?
• False ceilings, also known as suspended ceilings, differ from standard ceilings as they hang closer to the
ground beneath the original ceiling structure. There is usually a hollow space between the original ceiling
and the false ceiling, which can be useful for sound proofing apartments in the same building.
• It provide smooth and beautiful surface finish to the ceiling.
• In particular situation the electrical hvac and plumbing work to be done on ceiling so it look very
unpleasant.
• So for hiding electrical and plumbing things we can do false ceiling
• It also reduce heating.

GYPSUM CEILING-
• Gypsum ceiling is made up of calcium sulphate dihydrate
• It is light weighted and widely used in building residential and commercial.
• it is manufactured in the shape of square and rectangular
• It installed over the steel frames at a certain height from ceiling.
• rates vary from Rs. 60 per sqft to Rs. 120 per sqft depending on the design,
• There are different types of gypsum board
• Fire resistant gypsum board
• Regular board
• Moisture resistant board
POP CEILING-
• Plaster of Paris is most commonly used false ceiling material.
• It is cheapest amongst all the false ceiling materials. POP is mixed with water It requires artistic workmanship
• POP ceilings can be designed based on the choice of the homeowner. Available in powdered form, the paste is
made to design the ceiling. The paste made mixing the powder with water is applied to chicken mesh for it stay
afloat. POP is highly durable and can sustain for years without any wear or tear

• Easy to construct
• Thickness- 12-15 mm
• Price depends on design pattern
• Labour cost is high.

PVC CEILING-
• PVC ceiling is also one of the most commonly used ceiling system. It solves the problem of cleaning and
maintenance.
• This type of ceiling is suitable for all types of climate. It also incorporates flush fitting and hidden lighting
system.
• These are one of the most hassle free and easy to install false ceilings.

• Light weight
• Moisture resistant
• Economical
• Low maintenance
• Allows different shapes and customised designs
• Durable
FIBRE CEILING-

• False ceiling can be made with fiber or mineral reinforced tiles and
fibreboard.
• Fiber reinforced tiles are strengthened with wood vegetable fiber, wood
waste, reed paper and agricultural wastes.
• Mineral tiles are ceramics reinforced with natural stone, wood, vegetable
fiber, bitumen and tars.
• This process increases the insulation capacity of the product.
Advantages

• They have high insulation against sound and fire.
• The fiber increases the hardness and the toughness of the material.
• The material can be decorated with paint or other finishes improving the
aesthetics of the room.
• Water repellents and preservatives can be added to increase the life of the
product.
• If fire safety is a factor, ceiling tiles made from mineral fibres, or fire-
rated wood panels can be used within the construction to meet acceptable
standards/ratings

GRID CEILING-
• Grid False Ceiling is one of the most common types of false ceilings used
in commercial office spaces.
• These type of ceiling are suitable for large range of applications.
• They are ideal for concealed wiring.
• These metal ceiling panels are installed either on steel T- sections or cross
sections and then suspended by rods.
GRID CEILING-
Features of Grid Ceiling
• Easy to install and easy to maintain.
• The tiles can be replaced with little or no effort
• Grid Ceilings are Economical
• Easy to Maintain as you can remove the ceiling tiles whenever you want
• They have monolithic designs
• Grid Ceiling have very good Sound proofing capabilities
• General size used is 600x600mm but available in other sizes also like 300mm X
1200mm etc.,

PLYWOOD CEILING –

• Plywood ceilings are popular for their visually appealing aspects.


• These type of ceilings are created with strips of ply which are either nailed or
glued together.
• The strips are supported with the help of ply.
• Plywood ceiling due to its insulating property, it is used in places with cold
climate.

• They are strong

• Can be treated for longer life span
• Difficult to maintain
• Appearance Changes with time
