📘 VOCABULARY Structure: Questions/Answers

This unit focuses on hobbies, free-time activities, and Is/Are + Subject + Adjective?
how to express likes/dislikes.
Example:
1. Main Vocabulary (Hobbies and Activities)
o "Is the street long?"
 play ice hockey → to participate in the sport of o "Are the houses big?"
hockey on ice.
 do origami → to make figures by folding paper Yes/No + it + is/ is not (isn't)+ Adjective.
(a kind of paper art).
 collect comic books → to gather and keep Yes/No + they + are/ are not (aren't) + Adjective.
comic books as a hobby.
 play the guitar → to make music with the Example:

 draw → to make pictures using a pencil, pen, o "Yes, it is/No, it is not (isn't)”

2. Frequency Expressions

These words show how often you do an activity:


 once a week → 1 time each week.
 twice a week → 2 times each week.
 three times a week → 3 times each week.
 every day → all the days.
 never → 0 times.
 often → many times.
 sometimes → not always, but occasionally.

📘 GRAMMAR
The grammar of this unit is about talking about
hobbies using “like to” + verb and expressions of
frequency.

1. Formula with "like to"

We use like + to + base verb to express hobbies or


interests.

Formula:
✅ Subject + like(s) + to + base verb

Examples:

 I like to play soccer.


 She likes to draw.
 They like to collect comic books.

⚠️Important:

 With he, she, it, we add -s to “like” → He


likes / She likes.
 With I, you, we, they, we use “like” → I like /
They like.

2. Negative form

We use don’t like / doesn’t like.

Formula:
✅ Subject + don’t/doesn’t + like + to + base verb
Examples:

 I don’t like to play volleyball.


 He doesn’t like to do origami.

3. Questions with "Do you like to…?"

We use Do/Does + subject + like to + base verb?

Formula:
✅ Do/Does + subject + like to + base verb … ?

Examples:

 Do you like to play music? → Yes, I do. / No, I


don’t.
 Does she like to draw? → Yes, she does. / No,
she doesn’t.

4. Expressions of Frequency

We combine frequency words with “like to.”

Formula:
✅ Subject + like(s) + to + base verb + frequency.
✅ Subject + frequency + like(s) + to + base verb.

Examples:

 I like to play soccer once a week.


 She often likes to play video games.
 We never like to do karate.

5. Talking About When You Do Things

We can also talk about the time/day.

Formula:
✅ Subject + like(s) + to + base verb + time expression.

Examples:
 I like to play volleyball on Mondays.
 He likes to play guitar after school.

📘 FULL SENTENCE STRUCTURES


A. Affirmative Sentences

 I like to + verb.
 She likes to + verb.

Examples:

 I like to play video games.


 She likes to draw.

B. Negative Sentences

 I don’t like to + verb.


 He doesn’t like to + verb.

Examples:

 I don’t like to sing.


 He doesn’t like to play soccer.

C. Yes/No Questions

 Do you like to + verb? → Yes, I do. / No, I


don’t.
 Does he/she like to + verb? → Yes, he/she
does. / No, he/she doesn’t.

Examples:

 Do you like to collect comic books?


 Does she like to play the guitar?

D. WH- Questions

 What do you like to do (after school/on


weekends)?
 How often do you like to + verb?
 When do you like to + verb?

Examples:

 What do you like to do after school? → I like to


play the drums.
 How often do you play soccer? → I play once a
week.
 When do you do karate? → I do karate on
Mondays.
