Unit Description: This unit provides the foundational competencies required for computer essentials. It
covers managing computer hardware and software, handling desktop settings, performing file
management, and engaging in online jobs .

Module 1: Managing Computer Devices

This module focuses on the physical components of a computer system, from selection and assembly to
connecting peripherals .

Topic 1.1: Computer Hardware Identification and Selection

Objective: Learn to identify and select various computer hardware components based on user
requirements .

Content:

Introduction to physical parts: computer case, monitor, keyboard, mouse .

Internal components: hard disk drive, motherboard, video card .

Understanding user needs and matching them with appropriate hardware specifications.

Practical Session:

Lab activity to identify, handle, and list the specifications of various internal and external

hardware components.

Topic 1.2: Computer Assembly and Disassembly

Objective: Gain hands-on experience in assembling and disassembling computer hardware safely and
