Task 1

1- Identify the function of the Semi-conductor ignition system (distributer-less) and how it works?

Function: ignite the air-fuel mixture within the engine's cylinders at the precise moment for optimal combustion.
how it works: The Distributor Less Ignition System uses crankshaft speed and position sensors, load improvements, and other
improvements to achieve ignition timing. When one coil is fired, a spark is supplied to two engine cylinders, igniting the mixture on
the compression stroke.

2- Describe the Semi-conductor ignition system (distributer-less) main components, their function, and explain their working
principle?

Crankshaft Monitors the engine's rotational speed and Generates a signal that indicates the position of the crankshaft.
Position Sensor position.
Camshaft Position Monitors the position of the camshaft The sensor detects the rotation of the camshaft by monitoring

Electronic Control The brain of the system, processing signals Determines the optimal ignition timing based on various factors
Unit (ECU) from sensors and controlling ignition timing like engine speed, load, and temperature.
Ignition Coils Step up low voltage from the battery to When energized, the primary winding builds a magnetic field.
high voltage required for spark generation Interrupting the current collapses the field, inducing a high-
voltage pulse in the secondary winding
Spark Plugs Deliver the high-voltage spark to the The spark plug's electrodes create a gap across which the spark
combustion chamber jumps
