1.Some of your friends are visiting you this weekend.

You would like to do

something fun with them. What will you do?
- Cook a meal together in your apartment.
- Go to a local restaurant together.
- Take your friends out for sightseeing.
I believe cooking together in the apartment is the best option, as it offers a
personal, interactive, and flexible experience. Unlike dining out or sightseeing, it
allows friends to collaborate, learn, and enjoy the creative process. It’s not weather-
dependent and can be tailored to everyone’s preferences, making it a meaningful
and engaging choice.

2.You are about to study at university. Which of these is most important?

- Cost of the course
- Reputation (danh tiếng) of the university
- Distance from home
I think university reputation influences education quality, career
opportunities, and networking. While tuition and distance matter, long-term
benefits often justify attending a prestigious institution. Emotional well-being can
be managed through technology and social connections. Reputation plays a crucial
role in shaping future success.

3.Your university offers free courses for graduate students. Which would you
choose?
- A time-management course.
- A public speaking course.
- A team work course.
I would choose a public speaking course because it enhances academic
presentations and is vital for career success in leadership, job interviews, and
networking. While time management and teamwork develop naturally, public
speaking is more challenging due to speech anxiety. A structured course helps
overcome this fear while also improving other essential skills.

4.A student wants to do a part-time job where he can practice his English. Which
job would be best for him?
- A job at a souvenir shop
- A job at a travel agency
- A job at a take-away shop
I recommend a travel agency as the best part-time job for practicing English
since it involves frequent interactions with international tourists. Unlike a souvenir
or take-away shop, where conversations are short, a travel agency allows for
deeper discussions about destinations and itineraries, creating a more immersive
language-learning experience.

5. Your friend is going on a long journey by train on his own. Which do you think
is the best way to pass time on a long journey?
- Talking to other people
- Reading books
- Sleeping
I suggest that reading books is the best way to pass time on a long train
journey, as it offers relaxation, reduces stress, and enhances focus. While sleeping
and chatting with passengers have benefits, reading enriches knowledge, sparks
imagination, and allows travelers to connect with the places they pass through.

6.You are going to learn English. Which activity is the best way to learn English?
- Join a class.
- Self-study.
- Talk to native speakers
I believe speaking with native speakers is the best way to learn a language,
offering real-life practice, better pronunciation, and cultural insight. While
classes and self-study have benefits, they lack conversational engagement and
immediate feedback. Native interaction ensures correction, immersion, and faster
learning.

7.Your cousin is the best student of the class this year. His parents are thinking
about a present for him. Which present would you suggest them?
- A laptop
- A holiday
- Some money
I believe a holiday is the best choice because it offers cultural exploration,
relaxation, and new experiences. Traveling broadens the mind, allowing her to
engage with different traditions and customs. A laptop might distract from
studying, and an unplanned trip could be expensive, but overall, a well-planned
holiday is the most rewarding option.
8.You have just received a sum of money from your father as a birthday present.
How would you use the money?
- Saving up for the future
- Buying a laptop for the study
- Buying a fashionable smartphone.
If my father gives me a sum of money as a birthday present, I will buy a new
laptop. It’s very necessary for me to learn with the help of documents on the
internet rather than a smartphone because I already have one and saving up for
the future is not necessary yet.

9.Examinaitons are not necessary.

Examinations:
– Time consuming
– Unfair
– Costly
Exams may not be necessary because they focus too much on memorization
instead of understanding. Many students feel stressed, and their scores may not
truly reflect their abilities. Exams also take time and money to organize.
Instead, learning through projects and presentations helps students think
creatively and apply knowledge better.
10. It is good to learn about a culture when you learn a language.
Language and culture.
– Language: the best means of culture
– Better communication
– Culture shocks
When we learn a new language, we should also learn about the culture.
Language is a part of culture. It shows us how people live, think, and
communicate. If we understand the culture, we can speak better and avoid
misunderstandings. We can also feel more comfortable when we visit or live in
another country. Learning about culture helps us enjoy learning the language more,
and it helps us become more open-minded and friendly with people from different
places.

11. Punishment by teachers at school is good for students.

Punishment:
– Obey teachers
– Minimise misbehavior
– Concentrate better on study
Punishment by teachers at school can be good for students. It helps students
obey teachers and follow rules. When students know there will be punishment, they
try to behave better. This can reduce bad actions in class. Also, punishment can help
students focus more on their study because they don’t want to get into trouble. In
my opinion, if the punishment is fair and not too strict, it can teach students to be
more responsible and respectful at school.
12. Online courses:
– Provide new learning experience
– Be more convenient to study
– Be independent in learning
Online courses are very useful for students. They give a new learning
experience because students can use videos, games, and websites to study.
Studying online is also more convenient because you can learn at home, anytime.
It helps students become more independent because they have to manage their time
and learning by themselves. In my opinion, online courses are a good way to
study, especially for busy people or those who live far from school. They save time
and give more choices.
13. You are spending the evening with a friend who you haven't seen for a long
time. Which is the best way to spend the evening with your friend?
- Going out for a meal
- Going to the cinema.
- Staying at home.
I think going out for a meal is the best way to spend the evening with a
friend I haven’t seen for a long time. When we eat together, we can sit, talk, and
share many things. It’s a good chance to catch up and enjoy each other’s company. I
don’t choose going to the cinema because it’s hard to talk there. We just watch the
movie and don’t have time to speak. I also don’t choose staying at home because it
might feel boring or too quiet. Going out makes the evening more special.

14.Your friend wants to improve his English skills and asks for your advice.
What advice will you give him?
- Going to an English club
- Taking an English course.
- Watching English movies.
I believe taking an English course is the most effective way to improve
English. In a course, my friend can learn all four skills: listening, speaking, reading,
and writing. Teachers can explain grammar clearly and correct mistakes. It also
provides a good learning routine and motivation. I wouldn’t choose an English club
because it focuses mainly on speaking and may not help with grammar or writing.
Watching English movies is interesting, but it's more for fun and doesn't give full
support for serious learning.

15.You have been stressed out recently and you want to do something to relax
this weekend. Which activity would you choose?
- Going to the cinema
- Playing sports
- Going shopping.
I would choose playing sports to relax this weekend. When I play sports, I
can move my body, breathe fresh air, and forget about stress. It helps me feel more
energetic and positive. Sports are good for both physical and mental health. I don’t
choose going to the cinema because I just sit and watch, which doesn’t really help
me relax deeply. I also don’t choose going shopping because it can be tiring and I
may spend money on things I don’t need.

16.You best friend has just started studying at university and she wants to join a
club to meet new people and make friends. Which club do you think your
friend should join?
- English club
- Music club.
- Sport club.
I think my friend should join the English club. In this club, she can practice
speaking English and meet many students from different backgrounds. It’s a great
way to improve her language skills and build confidence. Talking with others in
English also helps her make new friends more easily. I don’t choose the music club
because not everyone can sing or play an instrument. I also don’t choose the sport
club because it may focus more on training than on social activities. The English
club is fun, useful, and a good way to connect with people.

17.Your friend is having a birthday party this weekend and you are considering
a present for her. Which present is your best choice?
- A fashionable clothing item
- A book
- A pair of movie tickets
I think the best present for my friend is a fashionable clothing item. She
loves wearing nice clothes and always follows the latest trends. Giving her a stylish
shirt or dress will make her happy and she can use it often. It also shows that I care
about her style. I don’t choose a book because she doesn’t really enjoy reading. I
also don’t choose movie tickets because we don’t know if she will be free to watch
them. A beautiful outfit is more personal and practical.
