Unsupervised Learning Roadmap

The document outlines a 1-week roadmap for learning Unsupervised Learning, covering key concepts such as clustering, dimensionality reduction, and anomaly detection. Each day focuses on specific techniques like K-Means, PCA, and t-SNE, with hands-on practice using small datasets. The final day involves a mini project to consolidate learning through a complete workflow of data preprocessing, clustering, visualization, and anomaly detection.

Unsupervised Learning 1-Week Roadmap

Day 1: Basics & Intuition - What is Unsupervised Learning - Difference from Supervised Learning -
Common types: Clustering, Dimensionality Reduction, Anomaly Detection - Simple examples & intuition

Day 2: Clustering – K-Means - Concept of grouping similar points - K-Means algorithm (steps + math
behind it) - Choosing number of clusters (Elbow method, Silhouette score) - Hands-on small dataset practice

Day 3: Clustering – Hierarchical & DBSCAN - Hierarchical clustering (agglomerative & divisive) -
Dendrogram interpretation - DBSCAN for density-based clustering - Compare results with K-Means on small
examples

Day 4: Dimensionality Reduction – PCA - Concept: reducing features while keeping most information -
Principal Component Analysis steps + math intuition - Hands-on visualization with 2D or 3D plots

Day 5: Dimensionality Reduction – t-SNE & UMAP (Optional) - t-SNE for visualization of high-dimensional
data - UMAP for faster dimensionality reduction - Practice plotting clusters after reduction

Day 6: Anomaly Detection - Concept of outliers / unusual points - Methods: Z-score / IQR, Isolation Forest,
One-Class SVM - Hands-on detection on small dataset

Day 7: Mini Project / Consolidation - Pick a small dataset (e.g., customer segmentation, fruit clustering) -
Apply full workflow: 1. Preprocess data 2. Apply clustering 3. Visualize clusters 4. Try PCA or t-SNE 5. Identify
anomalies if any

Tips: - Focus on understanding patterns and intuition first - Start with small datasets - By the end of 7 days,
you'll have hands-on experience and mastery for Unsupervised Learning.
