Japanese Industrial Standards Committee as the result of proposal for revision of
Japanese Industrial Standard submitted by Japan Stainless Steel Association (JSSA)
/Japanese Standards Association (JSA) with the draft being attached, based on th~ pro-

This Standard specifies the cold-rolledstainless steel plates and sheets (hereafter
referred to as "plates") and cold-rolledstainless steel strip (hereafter referred to as
I "strip").

5 Chemical composition
1- 5.1 Heat analysis values
Plates and strip shall be tested in accordance with 11.1, and the obtained heat analy-
I sis values shall satisfy the requirements in table 3 to table 7.
5.2 Product analysis values
If the purchaser requests a product analysis, plates and strip shall be tested in ac-

cordance with 11.1, and the test results shall satisfy the requirements in table 3 to ta-
ble 7 within the tolerances given in table 5 of JIS G 0321. However, the tolerances for

elements not given in table 5 of JIS G 0321 may be as agreed between the purchaser
and the manufacturer. 1

6 Mechanical properties
6.1 General 1
Heat treated plates and strip, when tested in accordancewith 11.2,shall satisfy the
mechanical properties requirements in 6.2 to 6.6. For plates or strip having a thickness
under 0.30 mm, the tensile test may be omitted.

6.2 Mechanical properties of austenitic series
The mechanical properties of austenitic series shall be in accordance with either a)
1
or b) in the following.
a) The mechanical properties of solution treated plates and strip shall satisfy the re-
1
quirements in table 8. For testing, the sample prepared in accordancewith Class A
of 7.6 of JIS-G 0404 shall be used. The proof stress shall be applied only when des-
ignated by the purchaser.

strips are permitted to have a minor amount of defects since they are generally

11.2.5 Test methods

The tensile test, hardness test and bend test methods shall be as follows. 1

a) The tensile test shall be carried out in accordance with JIS Z 2241. However, the 1
test temperature shall be 23°C ± 5°C, and the tensile speed for measurement of
plates and strip other than those of martensitic series shall be such that the strain
increase rate of the parallel part of the test piece is 40 %/min to 80 %/min.

b) The hardness test shall be carried out in accordance with anyone of the following
