1. A musical instrument hire company hires instruments out to customers.

customer can hire up to 3 instruments at a time. Instruments can be allocated to
many customers over time.
2. A building company carries out jobs for customers. A customer might want more
than one job done. Material Types (such as bricks, plasterboard etc.) might be
used on a job. A particular Material Type could be used on more than one job. A
record of the quantity of each material type used on a job should be kept.
3. A vehicle hire company rents different types of vehicles (cars, vans and
motorcycles) to customers for a set period.
4. A library member can borrow a number of books and each book can be borrowed
by many members.
5. Teachers in a school are allocated IT equipment such as tablets, laptops and
external disk drives. One teacher may be allocated more than one piece of
equipment. A piece of equipment may be allocated to more than one teacher
over time.
6. An animal hospital has many vets and treats many different types of animal.
Each vet may specialise in treating one or more type of animal. Each type of
animal could have many vets who specialise in treating them.
7. A gym employs a number of instructors to teach a range of activities. Each
Instructor can teach many Activities and each Activity can be taught by a number
of different Instructors. In its new Relational Database Management System
(RDBMS), the gym needs to be able to access which Instructors can teach
specific Activities.
8. A library’s members can borrow many books. Each book can be borrowed by
many members.
9. A garage repairs cars. Consider this scenario: A job can use many parts and
each part can be used for many jobs.
10. James and Co is a stationery supplier which sells a range of products. For its
new Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), the company needs to
be able to create orders with multiple products. The relationship can currently be
described as each order can have many products and each product can be on
many orders.
