BASIC CONCEPTS ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The word library comes from the Latin word liber meaning book. A library is a

research and learning. The first great library was built in Alexandria, Egypt, where
scholars gathered to study and produce valuable works.

Today, the library remains essential for students to access textbooks, references,
journals, and other learning materials. As Samuel Johnson said, “An educated man
is one who knows where to find things,” highlighting the importance of knowing
how to use the library effectively.
IMPORTANCE OF THE LIBRARY
The library plays a vital role in advancing knowledge and supporting the teaching and
learning goals of schools. It provides resources and facilities that help both teachers and
students succeed.

Studies show that well-equipped and properly staffed libraries improve student
