COURSE TITLE: VIRTUALIZATION AND DATA CENTRES

Course Code:: 22PCA311 Course Type: SPZ

Teaching Hours/ Week (L:T:P): [Link] Credits: 5
Total Teaching Hours: 60+0+30 CIE + SEE Marks: 50+50=100
Preamble (brief description).
Virtualization has transformed the IT industry by allowing multiple virtual machines to run on a
single physical server, enabling efficient resource utilization and cost savings.
Data centers are critical facilities that house the physical infrastructure required to support various
applications and services. We will examine the components and architecture of data centers,
including servers, storage systems, networking equipment, power and cooling systems, and security
measures.

Course Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to…

Explain the concepts and components of cloud architecture and their relevance in
CO1
different deployment models.
CO2 Evaluate based on suitability of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS for specific use cases.
Discuss the key elements of data centers and apply capacity planning techniques for
CO3
efficient management.
Compare and contrast virtualization technologies and select appropriate solutions for
CO4
different scenarios.
Configure, tune, and manage virtual servers and implement backup and migration
CO5
strategies.
