ROWLING
Joanne Rowling was born on July 31, 1965, in Yate, England. She first
thought up Harry Potter in 1990 during a long train delay
Growing up, Rowling had a tough life at home. Her mother was
sick for a long time and J.K. didn't get along well with her
father. This drove J.K. to read more books and write her own
stories which she would read to her little sister, Dianne
After graduating from university, Rowling had several jobs,
including working as a bilingual secretary and researcher at
Amnesty International's London offices. She then moved to
Manchester, where she worked for the Chamber of Commerce.
She still enjoyed writing. But it was more of a hobby than a
career at that time .
Rowling has enjoyed enormous commercial success as an
author. Her Harry Potter series topped bestseller lists, spawned
a global media franchise including films and video games, and
had been translated into 84 languages in 2023
She will be best remembered for British author J.K.
Rowling captured the imagination of children and adults
alike with her best-selling series of books about Harry
Potter.
