FINITE MATH 1

FINITE MATH 1
GRADE 11 - ACADEMIC (STEM)
OVERVIEW
FINITE MATHEMATICS 1
Finite Mathematics 1 explores topics such as geometric
designs, patterns in nature and art, matrices, and linear
programming. Learners will apply mathematical methods to
model and solve practical problems, interpret data, and
explore the structural beauty of mathematics in both
natural and human-designed contexts. Learners develop
proficiency in using mathematical tools and techniques by
integrating visual and analytical reasoning.

LINEAR PROGRAMMING
GEOMETRY OF DESIGN

The course explores how geometric principles underpin

visual composition, form, and structure in both natural
and man-made creations. This interdisciplinary topic
connects mathematics, art, architecture, engineering,
and graphic design, focusing on how shapes, proportions,
and spatial relationships contribute to both aesthetic
appeal and functional effectiveness.

PATTERNS IN NATURE AND ART

This course explores the fascinating world of patterns found

in nature and how they inspire artistic expression. Students
will examine natural patterns such as spirals, symmetry,
fractals, and tessellations, and learn how these forms appear
in plants, animals, and landscapes. Through observation,
drawing, and creative projects, learners will discover how
artists across cultures and time periods have used these
patterns in visual art, design, and architecture.

MATRICES
Matrices are rectangular arrays of numbers, symbols, or
expressions arranged in rows and columns. They are a
fundamental concept in mathematics, especially in linear
algebra, and are used to represent and solve systems of
linear equations, perform transformations in geometry, and
model real-world data in various fields such as physics,
computer graphics, engineering, and economics.

LINEAR PROGRAMMING

This course introduces the fundamental concepts and

methods of linear programming, a mathematical technique
used to optimize objective functions subject to linear
constraints. Students will learn how to model real-world
problems as linear programs and apply solution methods
such as the Graphical method and the Simplex algorithm
