Dear Congregation,

When the assassination of a prominent figure like Charlie Kirk takes place, it gives us
pause. Charlie was a young man remarkably gifted in speaking truth, who devoted
himself to inspiring people to live by absolute principles—rooted in Scripture—and
engage in open debate. He was deeply patriotic—committed to our country and its
values.

All of this sprang from a deep faith in God. In his public life, Charlie was a true
Protestant voice, unafraid to call out evil for what it is.

At moments like this, we naturally feel dread and anxiety. We are overcome by fear and
a sense of vulnerability. This reaction is understandable—because many of us share
Charlie’s convictions and resonate with the truth he communicated so powerfully.

In such a time, we urge you to bring all these feelings before the Lord. In Psalm 91,
the first two verses reveal four names of God:
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High (El Elyon) shall abide under the
shadow of the Almighty (El Shaddai). I will say of the LORD (Jehovah), He is my refuge
and my fortress: my God (Elohim); in Him will I trust.
Let us, like Abraham—who lived surrounded by hostile nations—put our trust in this
God. Even when His way is in the sea, and darkness clouds our understanding, He is
never out of control.
“The LORD reigneth, He is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength…
the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.” —Psalm 93:1
To our young people, many of whom looked up to Charlie or followed his work: do not
let this darkness discourage you. Let the life Charlie lived inspire you. Ask God for the
grace to live fearlessly, as he did, for the glory of God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Though Charlie may have seemed like a “prince” to many, the Lord reminds us in Psalm
146 not to put our trust in princes, but in Him. Then, even Charlie’s death will serve a
greater purpose—to stir hearts and awaken deeper faith.

Also, let us intercede at the throne of grace for Charlie’s young widow, Erika, their
precious two children, and his extended family as they come to grips with their
staggering loss. May the Lord indeed be their Refuge and Strength, and their very
present Help in trouble (Psa. 46:1)—the passage Charlie’s wife posted an hour before
her beloved husband was brutally murdered.

Finally, let it be our prayer that God will use this tragedy for good in our nation, where
the political environment has become so toxic. May this grievous event multiply our
prayer for the Spirit-wrought revival our nation so desperately needs. What a blessing it
would be if that were to be the abiding fruit of the righteous cause Charlie Kirk
espoused!

May the LORD, the Most High, the Almighty God, sustain us in this hour of pain and
sorrow, and may He yet have mercy on our beloved, divided, and troubled United
States.

Your Consistory.
