Hello, everyone! Today, we will learn how to introduce our friends and family to
other people. It's a very useful skill and it's easy to learn!
Part 1: Key Vocabulary & Phrases
A. Greetings to Start:
Hi / Hello!
Hey! (informal with friends)
B. Phrases to Introduce Someone:
This is... (Ini adalah...)
o Example: "This is my friend, Rani."
o Example: "This is my brother, Budi."
He is... / She is... (Dia adalah...)
o Example: "He is Andi. She is Sinta."
They are... (Mereka adalah...)
o Example: "They are my classmates."
C. Phrases to Respond:
Nice to meet you.
Glad to meet you.
Pleased to meet you.
(All three mean "Senang bertemu denganmu")
D. How to Reply:
Nice to meet you too.
You too.
Part 2: Example Dialogues
Let's see how these phrases are used in a conversation.
Dialogue 1: Introducing a Friend
Dina: "Hi, Sari! How are you?"
Sari: "Hello, Dina! I'm good, thanks."
Dina: "Sari, this is my friend, Raka. Raka, this is Sari."
Raka: "Hello, Sari. Nice to meet you."
Sari: "Hi, Raka. Nice to meet you too."
Dialogue 2: Introducing Family
Luki: "Mom, this is my classmate, Tia."
Luki: "Tia, this is my mother."
Tia: "Good afternoon, Ma'am. Pleased to meet you."
Luki's Mom: "Good afternoon, Tia. Nice to meet you too."
Part 3: Grammar Corner (Simple Note)
Use "This is..." when you point to or stand next to the person you are
introducing.
Use "He is" for a boy. Short form: He's.
Use "She is" for a girl. Short form: She's.
Use "They are" for more than one person. Short form: They're.
Summary (Ringkasan)
To introduce someone, we say "This is [Name]."
To respond, we say "Nice to meet you."
The other person replies with "Nice to meet you too."
Remember to use He is for boys and She is for girls.
