Detailed Lesson Plan
Name: Miszy Lacads
Course/Section: (please insert your course & section here)
Date: (insert date here)
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Define photosynthesis and explain its importance to living organisms.
2. Identify the raw materials and products of photosynthesis.
3. Illustrate the process of photosynthesis through a diagram.
4. Relate photosynthesis to real-life environmental importance.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Photosynthesis
Grade Level: Grade 9 (Science)
Reference: K-12 Curriculum Guide, Biology Modules, Teacher’s Guide
Materials: Chart, laptop, projector, interactive simulation, video clip
III. Learning Resources
Science Learner’s Module, DepEd
PhET Interactive Simulations (University of Colorado)
Teacher-made visuals and diagrams
IV. Procedure
A. Review
1. Teacher asks: “What do you remember about how plants make their food?”
2. Recall previous lesson on plant parts (leaves, chloroplasts).
B. Motivation
Show a short video clip of a tree providing oxygen and shade.
Ask: “What would happen if plants could no longer make food?”
C. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation
Teacher discusses the concept of photosynthesis.
Learning Experience: Students will WATCH and LISTEN to a short animation on how
photosynthesis works. (Visual and Audio – Dale’s Cone: Motion Pictures & Recordings)
Technology: LCD projector, multimedia presentation (TPACK – Technology + Content +
Pedagogy)
2. Discussion
Teacher explains the raw materials (CO₂, H₂O, sunlight) and products (O₂, glucose).
Class discusses the chemical equation of photosynthesis.
Learning Experience: Students will OBSERVE an interactive simulation where they can
manipulate sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide levels to see how plants respond. (Dale’s
Cone: Direct Purposeful Experiences through Simulation)
Technology: PhET Interactive Simulation (online tool), laptops/smartphones
3. Application/Activity
Group activity: Students create a flowchart of the photosynthesis process.
Learning Experience: Students will CONSTRUCT a diagram (Dale’s Cone: Contrived
Experiences, Visual Symbols)
Technology: Canva or MS PowerPoint for digital diagramming
D. Generalization
Ask: “Why is photosynthesis essential not only for plants but also for humans and
animals?”
E. Evaluation
Students answer the following:
What is photosynthesis?
Give the raw materials and products of photosynthesis.
Illustrate photosynthesis through a flowchart.
Relate photosynthesis to daily life.
F. Assignment
Research: “How does deforestation affect the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in
the atmosphere?”
Prepare a short infographic.
Technology: Canva, Piktochart, or PowerPoint
V. Remarks
(To be filled in after the lesson)
VI. Reflection
Number of learners who earned 80% on the formative assessment
Number of learners who require remediation
Did the remedial lessons work?
What difficulties did the learners encounter?
What innovations or localized materials did I use/discover?
