CONSTITUTION
1. GROUP NAME
The name shall be Arizona Self Help Group, to be registered under the ministry of cultural &
social services
2. INTRODUCTION
The group was established on 7th August 17/2023 by members
LOCATION
The group is in Kisumu Central with all members within Kisumu town
Address – P.O. Box 1240 – 40100 Kisumu.

MEMBERSHIP
The group will consist of women and men aged 18years and above regardless of their status in
the community.
Every member shall pay registration fee of 1,000/- which is non-refundable. The money can
increase if need be
Every member shall pay a weekly contribution of 1000 MGR
Weekly contribution of 200/- and above for table banking
Each member to pay 500/- per week to be deducted from MGR
Any member who fails to pay his / her weekly contribution for a period of 5 meetings shall cease
to be a member
The group secret must be kept secret by all members
A new member must be introduced by already existing members of the group
Each member to have a copy of constitution to guide and understand
3. AIMS AND OBJECTIVE
To unite and improve unity among members
To empower each other with ideas
To exchange skills
Every member must apply for a loan
To form a co-operative society at an appropriate time
The group shall neither be ethical nor political
Group activities are compulsory to it.

5. MEETING SESSION
Meeting to be held Thursday at 9.00 am
All members must attend the meeting
Respect to prevail at all times
Every member must pay MGR of 1000 and saving of 200 and above
6. FINES, RULES AND REGULATIONS
A member may be exempted from fines and excuses under the following circumstance
Burial, delivery before and after 2 months
Sickness ( she / he is admitted )
Has a matter in court or at home
Being late after 9.00 am shall attract a fine of 750
Absent with apology 50
Absent without apology 100
Rumor mongers and gossiper to pay a fine of 500
Not paying all time the money in time 100
No spreading the group secret to non-members it can lead to your expulsion or 1000 fine
( negative )
Fighting or using abusive language during meeting fine of 1000
Sickness – members must pay visit at home or in hospital, all members must contribute. Visiting
depends by the arrangement made by the group
Death of a members – members to contribute 500 each as the group may decide by members
from time to time
A members spouse – 500/- plus 500/- for any other need e.g. coffin or hearse
Children – 500
Parents – 500
N/B – all members to attend the night vigil as planned by the group and also attend burial
without any failure. Failure to do so shall attract a fine of 500 and pay transport to and fro.
When a member is sick members shall assist him / her on any burden to sickness or delivery
Sickness on admission members shall contribute 200 each for fruits
7. GROUP FUNDS
Group funds shall be sourced from
Members registration
Maendeleo project for the group. Every member must participate and shares must be equal
Loaning
Any other source approved by members
Any profit or interest made by the group shall be divided equally
8. LOANING
The loan is given to the members with a maximum repayment period of 6weeks. Loan interest
shall be 10% per 6weeks failure to clear within 6weeks means it shall roll over.
All loans must be cleared before sharing out
Loans shall be 2times savings of an individual
For new members there shall be loan limitation
Members shall sign loan book once the loan is approved
One of the officials must also sign once the loan has been approved
Disbursement
The loan shall be released after the member has agreed to the loan policy.
Every member must follow the loan policies
Saving maximum 5,000/- when applying for loan
Saving 10,000 and above must take two weeks to be approved
Every member must service her loan on a weekly basis or monthly basis. Failure within 3months
an absenteeism without proper reason, the group shall take action
Within 3 months – officials will communicate through letter or phone call
4 months – group members must approach the person concerned
More than the group officials shall report to the social services to take charge and the officer in
charge will give the group a way forward e.g. auctioning business or household.
WITHDRAWAL OF FUNDS
All the 4 officials shall do the withdrawal together

Should be strict according to constitution
Ensuring that secretary writes all minutes and takes note of the money received and used.
May be responsible for the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and scheduling members
9. RESIGNATION FROM MEMBERSHIP
Any member desiring to resign from the group, two months written notice of the intended
resignation shall take effect from the date of expiry of the notice provided
Any member desiring to resign must clear and outstanding loans and other commitmemn made
by him / her in the group
1000 to be deducted from his / her shares
The officials and 2/3 of the group members shall have power to expel / suspend a member from
his / her membership on the group that the member has contravened any of the provision of the
constitution of the group
The grievance against a suspended / expelled member shall be reported and discuses at the next
general meeting of the group following the expulsion / suspemsion the meeting shall resolve by
2/3 of the majority by the mebers present whether to expel or suspend or lift the suspension.
10. WELFARE AND PRIVILEGES
There will be welfare department or organizers to organize and cater for a number of function in
the group
11. ELECTIONS AND OFFICE BEARERS
All the members elected to the office bearer will serve in office for 3 years after which another
election will be held in a general meeting
The office bearer is eligible for a re-election if the members deem if fit any of them to continue
serving for more terms
An observer who is not a member of the group will be seek to observe election to ensure free and
fair election for members, the individual must be of high dignity and respected members of the
society. He / she must have served in relevant activity before.
12. DISSOLUTION
There will be no division of the group funds among members if the group has ceased its
functions
A letter seeking cessation will be written to the registered of social services to help the group
wind up
Nothing will be done until way forward be given by the registrar
13. AMENDMENTS
Constitution to be amended and renewed after every 2years
Any change to this constitution must be agreed by at least 2/3 of those members present and
voting at any general meeting
The constitution is well read and understood by all members and officials
