A1040 DURABLE HIGH BUILD MULTI SURFACE FINISH
Features:
A high build, multi-purpose, mid-sheen finish. This coating is a unique blend of special resins, being soft-
solvented and VOC compliant, giving good durability, moderate chemical resistance and very good weather
resistance. It can be shower proof in around 15 minutes and is ideal for application when the weather is likely
to be either inclement or at a low temperature.
Suitable for application to Plastisol coatings, cement rendering, concrete, brickwork, Aqua Board, wooden or
cementitious Soffit boards, plus a broad spectrum of other surfaces such as powder coating, previously painted
metal, metal cladding and timber surfaces when used with a suitable primer. It can also be used as a floor
finish in low traffic situations. Available in a fine or medium Anti-Slip finish for floors.
Excellent for refurbishing external cladding and is ideal for walls or buildings that require cleaning on a regular
basis. Can be produced in a fine or medium gritted Textured Finish to help bridge fine cracks or to give a more
consistent finish to uneven surfaces. Both the Anti-Slip and Textured Finish are produced as Special Mixes.
This coating is also suitable for use on old, weathered, high build textured finishes where a fresh, new
appearance is required. For high build textured finishes that that are less than six months old, or for surfaces
such as K Rend Silicone Render, please contact our Technical Team for advice on 01202 295570.
Ideally suited for use in pool plant rooms, sports facilities and changing rooms, milking parlours and veterinary
clinics, and areas where a cleanable surface for walls and floors are needed.

Coverage rates are based on our own tests but could vary depending on surface profile, porosity of the surface
and method of application. Please ensure you have the correct amount of product to complete the job before
starting. Coloured finishes should only be applied from the same batch of paint. Where more than one batch is
available, all batches should be boxed together before applying to maintain continuity of colour and finish.
Preparation:
The substrate must be thoroughly clean, dry and free from dust and grease. Any loose, powdery or flaking paint
should be removed with a wire brush. Fungus or mould should be scraped off and the surface treated with an
Anti-Mould Wash. All new concrete or cementitious surfaces should be treated with AS56 Alkali Resisting Sealer
(White) before application of A1040 and must be at least six weeks old. For all other surfaces, painted or
unpainted, please call or email our Technical Team on 01202 295570.
Application:
By brush or roller. Thin up to 10% by volume with UTR112 Thinners for brushing. Two coats will be required,
and it is recommended that the first coat is thinned up to 10% by volume for ease of application when brushing,
allowing overnight drying between coats. Must not be applied in temperatures below 8°C.
(Special note: on textured finishes, A1040 should not be spray applied unless the equipment being used is
suitable for this type of surface. Please check with your equipment manufacture before use. Technical Paint
Services cannot be held responsible for any damaged caused to spray equipment).
Health & Safety: Please see MSDS sheet 300C3.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT SPRAY APPLICATION UNLESS YOU ARE A QUALIFIED,
PROFESSIONAL SPRAYER.
If you are unsure about any of the procedures or have any questions, please call or email our Technical Team.
We always recommend that a trial adhesion test is carried out to ensure suitability of the product on the
surface you are trying to coat. Please contact our Technical Team if you are in any doubts before proceeding
and please remember surface preparation is one of the key factors in achieving a good paint finish. This is time
well spent as you will be rewarded with a better finish.
Important Note:
For internal and external work, maximum ventilation is required. To assist drying if the air flow is insufficient,
fans or other mechanical methods of circulating air should be adopted. Precautions must be taken to prevent
operators from inhaling the vapours during application; this may need the assistance of a second operative to
monitor the first operative when carrying out application of pre-treatment and coatings. Please ensure PPE
requirements are always followed.
