YELL COMPETITION
Mechanics
1. Participants
o The competition is open to all grade levels participating in the Intramurals.
o Each team must be composed of at least 10 members and a maximum of 20
members.
2. Performance
o Each team will present a yell/cheer lasting 1 to 2 minutes.
o The yell must:
Promote school spirit, sportsmanship, and unity.
Contain positive, encouraging words.
Be understandable and appropriate for an elementary audience.
3. Content and Restrictions
o Use of vulgar, offensive, or disrespectful language and gestures is strictly
prohibited.
o Only safe and manageable props (e.g., flags, clappers, pompoms, drums) are
allowed.
o Costumes or team uniforms are encouraged but optional.
4. Time Limit
o Each performance must not go beyond 2 minutes.
o Timing will begin once the team starts their yell.
5. Judging
o A panel of 3–5 judges will evaluate the performance based on the official criteria.
o The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
6. Disqualification
o Any violation of the rules (use of offensive language, unsafe props, exceeding
member limit, etc.) may lead to point deductions or disqualification, depending
on the severity.

Deductions and Penalties
Exceeding Time Limit:
o Deduction of 2 points for every 10 seconds beyond 2 minutes.
Vulgar or Offensive Language/Gestures:
o Deduction of 5 points per instance.
Unsafe or Prohibited Props:
o Deduction of 5 points or possible disqualification depending on severity.
