Course Introduction

Advanced Research Methodology provides students with knowledge about advanced skills in research and
ample knowledge about the research methods. The course introduces students to current viewpoints in
educational research and focuses on the development of a variety of skills needed to write a research
proposal, such as framing research questions, reviewing literature, and selecting acceptable procedures for
various types of research. Students will learn how to practically conduct the research for their degree and
afterwards. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to apply research in practical life.
Course Objective

 To develop practice-based skills in research designs, methods and data analysis. The module
introduces quantitative data analysis, covering a selection of those statistical techniques which are
most commonly employed in social science research. It also covers practical training in the
application of quantitative methods to social science data. The emphasis will be on the analysis of
data collected in social surveys, particularly the secondary analysis of large scale surveys.
