Origins
Python was developed by Guido van Rossum to create an easily readable general
purpose language first appearing in 1991 Rossum named the language after his
favorite comedy group at the time, Monty python.
Python as a programming language
Python sets itself apart as a language by having clean and readable syntax
Some of it’s advantages include simplicity, readability, extensive libraries, and a large
community
Although python is a very useful language it is not without flaws which include it’s
slowness, lack of security, and poor memory consumption
Where is python used
Because of its general use many industries find python useful such as web
development, data science, machine learning, and the finance industry among
others.
Many successful companies use python for back end development namely Reddit,
Spotify, Uber, Dropbox, and Netflix. Python is a go to for large companies like these
for its ease of use and wide range of functions.
While not the most popular language for game development many games still use
python some popular ones being Doki Doki Literature Club, Toontown online, and
Sims 4
Popularity of python
Python is an incredibly popular programming language used by a large supportive
community. According to the TIOBE index it is the most popular programming
language as of october 2022.
Careers in python
Because of its wide use cases python leads to many opportunities in a multitude of
fields such as data analysis, systems engineering, data engineering, and data science.
