1. Understand the Question

o Read the question carefully and highlight key words.

o Remember, you're summarizing a specific part of the text, not the whole passage.

o Determine what information you need to include.

2. Read the Passage Thoroughly

o Re-read the text to find relevant points.

o Focus closely; avoid skimming.

o Highlight or underline important details.

3. Select and Count Key Points

o Review your highlighted points to ensure they're relevant.

o Aim for about 15 key points; if you have fewer, read the passage again.

4. Organize Your Ideas

o Identify similar points that can be linked together.
