EPOFINE® - 015 / FINEHARD® - 015
(TWO COMPONENT EPOXY ADHESIVE)
PRODUCT
EPOFINE®- 015 / FINEHARD®- 015 is a two component, solvent-containing, epoxy adhesive,
offered as clear solutions.
APPLICATION
EPOFINE® - 015 / FINEHARD® – 015 is an ideal adhesive compound suitable as a primer coat for
brass or stainless inserts in epoxy castings. The inserts shall preferabley be sand blasted to have a
rough surface and then coated with EPOFINE®- 015 / FINEHARD®- 015. This is also used for
coating nomex sheets, which are used as slot insulation in HT machines. The bonding of these
sheets to winding and core will take place at temperatures above 150 oC. It can also be used to bond
the magnetic particles and then to press and cure to make bonded magnets. Another important
application is its use as a consolidating resin for HT coils. This is also an excellent coating for
electrical insulation of components like strain gauges. Another application is to make reactor bricks

SPECIAL FEATURES
The following advantages make it ideal for industrial use.
Mixing ratio = 100 : 100 by weight.
Tolerant mixing ratio (± 3%).
Very low viscosity, which ensures proper flow in the joint surface.
Normal contact pressure (after evaporation of solvent) is adequate while curing.
Excellent heat resistance up to 180oC.
Very Good chemical resistance and electrical insulation.
Excellent inter-coat adhesion between brass and epoxy casting.
PROCESS
For reducing the viscosity of EPOFINE ®- 015 / FINEHARD®- 015, methyl ethyl ketone can be
added. After thorough mixing, coat the sheets or soak the fleece and remove the solvent by drying at
60 - 80oC. The loaded or coated products can be stored for at least 6 months at temperatures of less

than 25oC. The fleece or nomex sheets have excellent flexibility. The final product can be cured at
schedules, selected from the following table.

Cure schedule for a specific process has to be established by trial.
PROPERTIES OF CURED JOINT
A joint made of aluminium-magnesium alloy plates stuck by EPOFINE ® - 015 / FINEHARD® – 015
and cured at 180oC for 1 hour has the following typical properties.
Shear Strength @120oC, kg/mm2 : 1.50 - 1.60
@ -40oC : 2.50 - 2.70
Peel Strength @30oC, kg/ cm : 4-5
Shear strength @30oC after immersion
in water @30oC for 10 days, kg/mm2 : 2.00 - 2.20
SURFACE PREPARATION
The substrate shall be thoroughly degreased, preferably with 1,1,1-trichloroethane.
STORAGE, HANDLING AND DISPOSAL
Storage : Store in a cool, dry place.
Shelf life : Minimum 4 months when stored in original sealed
containers at < 25oC.
Handling : Use hand gloves and protective glasses.
Disposal : Dispose by incineration or as per local regulations..
SAFETY INFORMATION
Flash point : >45o C
Precautions : In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water.
In case of eye irritation, bathe the affected eye with
running water for at least 15 minutes, and get
medical attention.
