NOTICE OF READINGS
We begin the reading of the Word of God. The words of the apostles and the
prophets, the words of Jesus Christ in the Gospel, are always light for
we. And that is why today, at this celebration, we want to pay special attention to you.
So that they penetrate within us, and make us live life very deeply.
new of the Spirit. With faith, and in an attitude of prayer, let us listen to the Word of
God.
After the proclamation of the Gospel, Father Sebastián Díaz introduces those who
they will be confirmed saying:
As the person responsible for this training, I am pleased to introduce you to.
you will confer on them the sacrament of the Spirit.
Bishop:
Do you know if everyone was properly prepared to receive with faith and
decision this sacrament?
Priest:
I know that everyone has received the appropriate catechesis, they have prepared with
prayer and charity and are determined to renew their baptismal commitments
to be faithful witnesses of Christ.
Bishop:
In the name of the Lord, we accept them to receive this admirable sacrament that
confirms them in the life of the Holy Spirit they received at their baptism.
Everyone responds:
We give thanks to God
The confirmands sit down.
The bishop delivers the homily.
YES, I QUIT
Bishop: Do you renounce sin to live in the freedom of the children of God?
Everyone: Yes, I resign.
Bishop: Do you renounce all the seductions of evil, so that it may not dominate in
You the sin?
Everyone: Yes, I resign.
Bishop: Do you renounce Satan, father and prince of sin?
Everyone: Yes, I resign.
Profession of Faith
Commentator: The creed is the synthesis of our faith; it is the fruit of firm belief.
in the saving word.
Each confirming, joined with the others, gives their personal and sincere response:
Bishop: Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth?
Everyone: Yes, I think so.
Bishop: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord, who was born of Saint
Mary Virgin, died, was buried, resurrected from the dead and is sitting at
the right of the Father?
Everyone: Yes, I believe so.
Bishop: Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, in the Holy Catholic Church, in the communion?
of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, in the resurrection of the body and in life
eternal?
Everyone: Yes, I think so.
This is our faith, this is the faith of the Church, which we glorify in professing.
Christ Jesus our Lord.
AMEN.
LAYING ON OF HANDS
Bishop:
Dearest brothers,
Let us pray to God the Almighty Father,
And let us ask Him to abundantly pour out the Holy Spirit.
About all his adoptive children,
Those who have been reborn to eternal life through Baptism:
The same Holy Spirit
I confirmed them with the abundance of your gifts.
And comforted with this anointing,
I perfected them in their configuration.
To Christ, Son of God.
Everyone prays in silence for a few moments.
The bishop and the priests who are to assist him in the anointing lay their hands on.
about all the confirmands, while the bishop, alone, says:
Almighty God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
What you have given our life
Of water and the Holy Spirit
To these children of yours,
Delivering them from sin.
Send now about them
The Holy Spirit Paraclete;
Grant them a spirit of wisdom and understanding,
Spirit of counsel and of strength,
Spirit of science and piety
And fill them with the spirit of your fear.
All:Amen
ANOINTING WITH THE HOLY CHRISM
With the laying on of hands and the anointing, the confirmed receives the gifts and
charisms of the Holy Spirit that identify Him with Christ as prophet, priest, and King.
The acolyte presents the holy chrism to the bishop. Each confirmand approaches the bishop.
Godfather or godmother places their right hand on the shoulder.
The bishop dips his right thumb in the chrism and traces the sign of the cross on the forehead of the
confirming, and lays his hand on his head while saying these words:
Bishop: Let us pray brothers to the Father who has freed us from the domain of the
darkness and has transferred us to the Kingdom of His Son, so that these children who have
confirmed the outpouring of the Holy Spirit may they remain strengthened in faith,
cemented in charity and with their lives bear witness to the Lord Jesus, saying:
For the bishops, priests, and deacons, that, with the help of the Holy Spirit,
continue your mission to be good workers of the kingdom of God so that everyone
Let's reach the knowledge and deepening of His word.
For the rulers so that the action of the Holy Spirit helps them to promote
our youth; so that they become good men and women useful to society.
For the catechists and other servants of the Church, that with your help
Holy Spirit, may you allow them to be more humble so that they may fulfill their...
mission with respect and love.
For the afflicted so that the comforting Holy Spirit may stir up in them new
hopes and understand the redemptive value of suffering.
For all the young people, so that the Holy Spirit inspires in them the desire to
to dedicate your life to the Lord through daily walking and strengthening your faith.
All:Amen.
OFFERING PROCESSION
Bread: We offer you, Lord, this bread, made from a multitude of grains of wheat to
that through the action of the Holy Spirit it transforms into the Body of Christ, we
help see what represents Christians forming one body and one mind
church.
WINE AND GRAPES: We offer you, Lord, this wine and these grapes which are the fruit of the
Earth and the work of men, so that when transformed sacramentally
in the Blood of Jesus illuminate our path as confirmands and disciples
yours and thus nourish and strengthen our faith.
CONFIRMING: We present to you, Lord, these young people who, by your presence...
Holy Spirit, receive today the seal that identifies you as Catholic Christians, to
that you may be the one to help them put those gifts and fruits at the service of your Church
what they have received from you.
Commentator: The Church lives from the Eucharist. This truth expresses not only
a daily experience of faith, but rather encompasses in synthesis the core of the mystery
from the Church: It joyfully experiences how it is continuously being realized,
multiple forms, the promise of the Lord: << Behold, I am with you
every day until the end of time>> Mt 28, 20.
OFFERING CHANT
RITE OF COMMUNION
Amen.
Thanksgiving
A young man:
We thank you, Lord, for your generous giving at the table of life, for
we who have received the sacrament of confirmation, for whom we
they accompany in this process of faith, for the calling to be faithful to your word and
constants in the service to the brothers. Thank you Father, for our families,
who welcome us and instruct us in your commandments, because with your Holy Spirit we
gives enough strength to continue being witnesses of your presence in
our lives.
Enter deep into the soul, Divine Light, and enrich us.
Look at the emptiness of man if you are lacking from within;
Look at the power of sin, if you do not send your breath.
Merciful Father,
