Procedure for calibration of

actuator connection
The manual calibration is performed analog to „Calibration of analog inputs“.
With the actuator moving first to its minimum and then to its maximum position the
evaluated parameter „3950 FEEDBACK“ has to be input for the parameters:

• 1950 FEEDBACK_REF_LOW for minimum position and

• 1951 FEEDBACK_REF_HIGH for maximum position.

To set the correct alarm limits increase the FEEDBACK_REF_HIGH value by 2000 bit
and decrease the FEEDBACK_REF_LOW value by 2000 bit.

• 1952 FEEDBACK_ERROR_LOW for minimum alarm limit and

• 1953 FEEDBACK_ERROR_HIGH for maximum alarm limit.

NoLi © MAN Diesel SE 10.05.2007 < 30 >

10.05.2007 Seite 15
Procedure for calibration of
actuator connection
Automatic calibration
With automatic calibration the evaluation of the reference values is done by the governor
itself. The governor will energize the actuator for a certain time to ensure that it will
traverse to its minimum and maximum positions and will then evaluate the reference
values. The values thus obtained are entered under the respective parameters and - in
contrast to manual calibration - will be available immediately.

If required, automatic calibration can also be

performed with the aid of the Hand Held
Programmer.
Start the automatic calibration by pressing
key „2nd“ and then „ACT ADJ“, confirm
selection by pressing the „Enter“ key.
Check the messages on the Programmer
display!

NoLi © MAN Diesel SE 10.05.2007 < 31 >

Important steps after adjustment

• After any adjustment of parameters the values have

to be saved. If the parameters are not saved the
„old“ values will be active after rebooting the
governor.

• To save the actual values press key „2nd“ and then

„SAVE DATA“

Grave errors are indicated by a letter:

d Data block error: The control is not able to continue operation because it did not find a
valid data block. This error is equivalent to the errors 3062 ERR_DATA or 3064
ERR_LOGICAL.
E Fatal error: This error is reported whenever serious errors concerningthe inputs and/or
outputs have occurred (e.g., actuator notconnected, failure of both speed pickups. etc.)
such that the control cannot continue to operate. This error is equivalent to the errors
causing an emergency shutdown.
E. Exception error: Internal computing error. This error is equivalent to the error 3072
ERR_INTERN.
