here’s the complete transcript reformatted clearly into Person 1 (Studio Republic Self Love
Photography sales rep) and Person 2 (customer) dialogue turns, preserving the flow and
keeping the original conversation intact.
Person 1 (Sales Rep): Hello. Hi Casey, it's Latoya from Studio Republic. How are you?
Person 2 (Customer): Not too bad yourself.
Person 1: Thank you. I'm just giving you a call about the couples application that you've popped
through online for a photo session voucher.
Person 2: Oh, yep, yep.
Person 1: Yes. Hey, I was just ringing to learn a little bit more about you and to complete the
application together. This can take around 15 minutes. Do you have that time to talk to me now?
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: Yeah, amazing, all right. I can see you just got married.
Person 2: Yep, Saturday, on Saturday we just did.
Person 1: Oh my God, just this Saturday.
Person 2: Yep.
Person 1: Wow, congratulations.
Person 2: Thank you.
Person 1: How was it?
Person 2: It was a bit of a blur, to be honest.
Person 1: Yeah, it goes like that.
Person 2: It was good, yeah, like literally years of planning and then it's gone in the blink of an
eye. Well we only had um a few months to plan it so—
Person 1: Oh, okay, cool. Where did you get married?
Person 2: Up at the Bungalow Mountains.
Person 1: Oh my God, how amazing.
Person 2: Yeah, it was.
Person 1: Oh wow, and did you make it like a holiday out of it?
Person 2: Oh no, we stayed up there for two nights, and then just came back home.
Person 1: Yeah. How long have you guys been together?
Person 2: Beautiful.
Person 1: And what's your partner's name?
Person 2: Billy.
Person 1: Billy, wow, how special. Congratulations.
Person 2: Thank you.
Person 1: So nice. So you're looking to obviously celebrate this new chapter with a photo shoot.
Person 2: Yeah, I thought that would be a fun way to celebrate.
Person 1: Yeah, beautiful. I can tell you've had a session with us a few years ago as well.
Person 2: Yes, and I absolutely enjoyed it.
Person 1: Yeah, amazing. And you're coming back for more.
Person 2: Yes.
Person 1: I love that. That's really cool. I've been trying to get my partner to come in to do a
shoot with me here and he is like anti-camera, so yeah.
Person 2: Exactly.
Person 1: And guys act all tough but they love it. Very cool. Okay, so are you still in King Roy?
Person 2: Yes.
Person 1: Yeah, so travel to us here on the sunny coast. It's nice and easy for the two of you.
Person 2: Yeah, yeah, amazing.
Person 1: So, with the vouchers, I don't know obviously a couple years ago but was sort of
structured the same way, but we allocate them to midweek spots in our calendar just to work
them in and around our retail clients. Is a midweek spot, Casey, something that you and Billy
could make happen?
Person 2: Um, it will, but I would need like a few weeks earlier so I could put it in for work.
Person 1: Yeah, no, that's fine. So our vouchers from the date of approval, you've got a three
week validity. So, um, would three weeks be enough time for the both of you to put in some
leave with work?
Person 2: Um, can we see? Yeah. Yeah. I think because I go— I don't think— Yeah. I go back
to work this Sunday night, I'm on for a week, and I think I've got the next week off.
Person 1: OK.
Person 2: And I'll be back on night shift the week after, I think.
Person 1: OK. But yeah. Yeah, OK. What about Billy? What's his work across July?
Person 2: Oh, he's not currently working at the moment, he's looking to work.
Person 1: Okay, alright. So he's got a pretty flexible schedule. And what are you— so you
mentioned night shift?
Person 2: Yeah, I think— because my roster only comes out every two weeks.
Person 1: Okay.
Person 2: So, um, yeah, I won't get my new roster until, I think, Sunday this week.
Person 1: Okay, sure, okay. Well that's okay— look, even if we put something in the calendar
and worst case scenario when your roster comes out it doesn't align, we just need seven days'
notice in order to shuffle that for you guys. So that's something we can definitely look at anyway.
Yeah, talk to me about this night shift— how do you do that, girl?
Person 2: Um, so I— because I'm a residential worker, I work in the houses in residential
care— like the kids are in residential care.
Person 1: Is that like aged care?
Person 2: Uh no, it's so— it's for kids that for whatever reason under child safety at the moment
and can't be with their families and can't go into foster care.
Person 1: Oh, okay.
Person 2: Yeah, um, yeah so then they come into what they call residential care, and it's like
just houses that are set up— we try and make it as homely as possible for them.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 2: But on a night shift— so I start work at 5 p.m., I clock off at 11 p.m., and then sleep
the night there, and then I'm technically clocked back in at 7 a.m. the next morning.
Person 1: Oh my goodness. Do you do that every day?
Person 2: Yeah, so they normally do— like if you're doing night shifts they normally give you a
week on, week off.
Person 1: Okay, so you do night shift for a week, and then because you've done night shift for a
week they tend to give you a week off.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: Okay. How long have you been doing that?
Person 2: A year.
Person 1: Okay. Like it would be incredibly rewarding but also pull those heart strings.
Person 2: Yeah, it is rewarding but it can also be very frustrating at the same time.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 2: Like you want what's best for the kids and— like because they've been through so
much sometimes they just don't care.
Person 1: Yeah, sure, that can be frustrating sometimes. You're like, oh yeah, you can lead a
horse to water, but—
Person 2: Yeah. A lot of them don't like going to school. I'm like, you know, we're trying to tell
them like depending on what job you want when you're older, like you need school— you know
what I mean? Like, where you're gonna head in life kind of thing.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 2: So, the people I work for, which is CTC, they try not to accept anyone under the age
of eight.
Person 1: Okay.
Person 2: But sometimes it can't be helped. So the youngest that we've had there since I've
been there has been a six-year-old girl.
Person 1: Oh my goodness.
Person 2: Yeah. They ended up finding a foster care placement for her, so she wasn't with us
for too long, which was good.
Person 1: Okay, oh wow. You know, I didn't even know that type of line of work existed, but
yeah— I mean, you must have a beautiful heart to be able to do that. You know, it's taxing on
yourself physically with the night shift and those big hours, but to show up and care for kids in
that way is really beautiful.
Person 2: Yeah, and I end up in my house because I'm a partner with my husband.
Person 1: Yeah, okay. What was he doing prior?
Person 2: So he was working at Tarong, which is a power station.
Person 1: Okay, yeah.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: And in King Arroy?
Person 2: Well, that's out towards the main wall out and then go away, but yeah.
Person 1: Yeah, okay. That's pretty much dry, okay. And is it just the two of you?
Person 2: Yeah, and our dog.
Person 1: And what's doggy's name?
Person 2: Kimba.
Person 1: Kimba, that's so cute. What kind of dog is he?
Person 2: He's a Maltese.
Person 1: Awwww, little fluffy Baba.
Person 2: He is, yes.
Person 1: He's so adorable.
Person 2: That's so sweet.
Person 1: How old is he?
Person 2: Um, he would be— I think he's about 11 or 12.
Person 1: Oh, okay. So he's like an old man.
Person 2: Yeah, yeah. I like him. He is old, but I talk to him, Baba.
Person 1: Yeah. Oh, they'll forever be babies, right? Our little furpuppas.
Person 1 (Sales Rep): Very cute. Okay, so you obviously know how we work here. You've done
it before and loved it, which is beautiful. We love so much when people come back and just
capture that growth and evolution. And it sounds like you're about to begin or have begun as of
Saturday, a whole new chapter in your life, which is really special.
Person 2 (Customer): Yep.
Person 1: You told Billy that you've applied for this?
Person 2: I did, yeah, yesterday.
Person 1: Yeah? How'd he take that?
Person 2: Yeah, it was like super cool.
Person 1: Okay. Yeah, cool. So he'll do what he's told.
Person 2: Yeah, cute.
Person 1: Okay, awesome. I think you'll have a great time. It's such a special space. As you
know, you've done it before.
Person 2: Yep.
Person 1: With, you know, like the type of shoot that you are thinking about, did you have
something in mind?
Person 2: I don't know.
Person 1: Okay. What, you know, like, obviously we want to, like, capture your connection and
your marriage and your personalities and all of that. Like, what's the dynamic between you?
What's your style? What's, you know, we're not, we're not like a serious couple. Yeah, we don't
take ourselves too seriously, like, we love to have fun. He's always making me laugh, doing silly
things, making me laugh.
Person 2: So, yeah.
Person 1: Okay. And what about, you know, like, your style? Um, you know, what's something
that you like to wear or put on that makes you feel really good?
Person 2: Um, I don't really know, I don’t mean I don’t really have anything, but if I really like to,
like, you know, like sort of like get dressed up a bit, like, you know?
Person 1: You like to get gaffed up?
Person 2: Yeah, cool. Um, yeah, I mean, I don’t really know.
Person 1: Yeah. What do you wear outside of work?
Person 2: Um, this plain old boy in old clothes like shorts and like a singlet or a t-shirt, shorts
and t-shirts, you might go to at the moment.
Person 1: Yeah, okay. Would you know, like, um, like, are you after like a sexy couple shoot or
do you want something more candid and natural?
Person 2: I mean, I would like the sexy one, but I don’t know how Billy would feel about that.
Person 1: Yeah. Well, I mean, the beauty of this voucher is you could do both. So you get two
different looks and even if you ease it in with Billy and kick it off with the natural look and get him
feeling comfortable and confident, which happens, as you know, because you've done it before
quite quickly, and then, you know, kind of step it up a few notches for that sexy look.
Person 2: Yeah, well, like, yeah. I don’t know. Like, we definitely do like a natural sort of candid
one.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 2: Yeah, um, yeah, I don’t know.
Person 1: Yeah. We'll have to wait and see because, yeah, I don’t know if they don't know how
he would feel.
Person 2: Yeah, he’s not one for like showing off and being in front of the camera and stuff, so.
Person 1: Yeah, yeah.
Person 2: Um, yeah, and I mean the beauty is that you could pack a few things for different and
just see how he goes. Like dip your toe in the water and you’ll be surprised at how quickly their
walls come down once they’ve had a little taste of it. Yeah, it feels daunting especially to men
who aren't used to that kind of environment but yeah, it’s a really beautiful and encouraging and
supportive space and we’ve had so many couples come in lately and the guys have been the
ones that are the most vocal at the end of it all being like, “Oh my god, I didn’t know photos of
us could look like this!” Like, yeah, so it is really, really cool watching that transformation with
them too.
Person 2: I’m actually more excited for Billy than myself because, like I said, like, you know, I’ve
had one done before so like, you know, I don’t know what to expect whereas yeah, I wanted to
see like his reaction to the pictures afterwards and stuff because I was the same like I didn’t
think I could look like that and then I saw the pictures and I was like, “Is that really me?”
Person 1: Yeah, and I mean it's just as potent and powerful for them too and I think men, you
know, they say that they don't need that kind of encouragement or support or to feel that way
about themselves but they come alive when they have it. We had a couple in the other weekend
actually and she brought her partner in and their little fur baby and he was so worried. He kept
saying to me, “I don’t know, I’m just doing this for her and I hope I don’t mess it up. I don’t know
what I look like,” and then at the end, he actually bought a photo of just him on his own because
he was so proud of the fact that he looked so good and you watch these walls come down. He
had a little swagger and it was really fun to see them just come alive in that environment. They
deserve it as much as we do, so that's really cool.
Person 2: Yeah, I’m hoping that’s what happens with Billy.
Person 1: Yeah, it might give him like a big confidence boost and then everything else will take
off for him.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: Now in terms of like, so you mentioned you have that fun, playful connection and
that’s what you’re wanting to capture. Obviously, like I said, you’ve done this before. So we’re all
about, we just want to tell your story. We want you to look at those images and see your
connection and your relationship and bring that out in the most amazing possible way. So, you
know, focusing on that natural candid fun and laughter that’s so alive by the sounds of things in
your marriage. We’re now married, so it’s as exciting and embarking on that like, you know,
going from partners to husband and wife is such a huge transition and it's a really beautiful
milestone to celebrate. So, you know, incorporating that part of like celebration into your photo
shoot will be really fun too.
Person 2: Yeah, yeah.
Person 1: Amazing. Alright, so what I’m going to do is you obviously know all about us. We are
the Empowerment Studio. Our sole mission is just to make people feel so incredible in the skin
that they’re in and to, yeah, celebrate and honour those connections and the people in our lives
and build that visual legacy, you know? Like you guys from here, the world is literally your oyster
and it’s such a potent milestone to capture in images and have that as something you can pass
on to generations as they come, you know?
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: Now with the voucher, I don’t know whether you booked in for a session last time, or
whether you were gifted this experience, but what you’ve applied to receive is an $800 voucher.
So the session itself is $700 in value, and then you get the $100 credit to go towards any
images on the day. It does go for three to four hours altogether, so you get your hair and
makeup professionally done twice. You’re going to work one-on-one with our photographer.
There will be a personal stylist to help you guys pop together some amazing looks. And then
we’re going to go into the viewing room, pop those hot images up on the big screen TV and
we’re going to go through a collection that feels amazing for you guys and that fits comfortably
within your budget.
Person 2: Okay.
Person 1: So in terms of pricing and things like that, we don’t have a minimum spend. Our
individual photos start at 195, but because we find it’s so hard, as you would have seen last
time, to choose just one, we have a range of collections and they have multiple images in them
which start around 775. Now what has evolved since you’ve been here last time is we have so
many comfortable and affordable payment plans which make it super easy.
Person 2: Okay.
Person 1: Now most people on these payment plans spend somewhere between $15 to $60
per week so as long as somewhere between those two numbers is comfortable for you guys at
the moment, then we guarantee you’re just going to have the most amazing time.
Person 2: Yeah, I honestly can’t wait. I’m excited.
Person 1: Yay!
Person 2: It’s that $15 to $60 per week, lovely. Is that something that’s comfortable for you guys
at the moment?
Person 2: Oh yeah, yeah. It definitely is.
Person 1: Yeah, amazing. Yeah. I guarantee you guys are just going to have the most amazing
time. Like, you know what it’s all about. It’s been here before, you’ve felt amazing. We’re such a
supportive and encouraging team. And we just—
Person 2: Yeah, I can’t wait to see the new studio.
Person 1: Oh, so it’s been— okay, yeah. Yeah, it is next level.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: So I came to myself before I started working here about 11 years ago to have a
session here, and I walked in when I got here for this job and just went, "Holy crap." Like, it
looks like a vogue magazine has just been painted all over the walls. Like it’s next level. We
have two working showers so we could do like sexy shower shoots. There’s like a boudoir
bedroom with a bed and couches and we’ve got artificial lighting areas and natural lighting
areas like it’s just insane. Honestly, can’t wait.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: Yeah, it’s so amazing. You’ll walk in and just be like, "What the hell happened?"
Because was there still a coffee shop when you were here last?
Person 2: No, I don’t think so.
Person 1: Yeah, okay. So I came, like, even before that, there was like a little coffee shop. It
was a shared space and now it’s just huge. So yeah, you’ll love it.
Person 2: That’s good, yeah. I can’t wait.
Person 1: Yeah, okay, amazing. So do you have any questions for me, Casey? Like is there
anything in terms of your images, I know you said you wanna capture that laughing and that fun
and your natural stuff, but is there anything else that you want to feel maybe even within
yourself or that you want to bring out for Billy? Like, talk to me about the emotive side behind it.
Person 2: Um, well, like since we got together, like I know Billy’s come a bit away.
Person 1: Mm-hmm.
Person 2: He’s not being complained about, but I think I feel sometimes he might be a bit
uncomfortable about that?
Person 1: Sure.
Person 2: Like, you know, I want him to feel like— I want to make him feel comfortable in his
own skin.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 2: Like, you know, because, yeah, like, um, yeah, I don’t know, honestly.
Person 1: How about, you know, in terms of— um, that's a— firstly, that's a beautiful thing to
recognise and to, um, honour as well, because I know firsthand, like I have, my partner is very
soft and emotional in terms of that regard, and even though he doesn’t put it out but you can tell
that, you know, that sort of stuff chips away at them so it is really special that you just want him
to see himself the way you see him and to be confident and loved and celebrated as well.
Person 2: He makes me feel like that every day, so.
Person 1: Oh, that’s so special.
Person 2: I know, so I want him to feel like that too.
Person 1: That’s gorgeous. Would you guys, just out of interest, so I’d know. I do social media
and marketing here. Would you guys be open to, like, some behind the scenes and a little, like, I
guess, after experience, you know, just to record that like, that your intention is he makes me
feel like this every day, now it’s his turn and to sort of honour that and see how he feels after the
whole thing?
Person 2: I mean, I actually would be, yeah. I’d have to speak to him about it but, yeah, no
pressure. I’m sure he would be, but yeah.
Person 1: No, I just love that. I love what you just said. Like, he makes me feel like this every
day and I want him to feel that way. That’s beautiful. It’s a really special connection it sounds like
the two of you have.
Person 2: Yeah. And we met on Tinder, believe it or not.
Person 1: Oh, do you?
Person 2: So I think it’s just the way of the world now. Like, nobody approaches anybody else.
Like, I met my partner on, it’s not or it was one of the other ones, I don’t know. But yeah, same
thing. Like it just happened and yeah, I think it’s how everyone is meeting now.
Person 1: Okay, cool. Now, in terms of you and your own self-confidence, like, where are you at
at the moment?
Person 2: I mean, I wouldn’t mind feeling more confident because like I have put on weight too.
Yeah. You know, I’m sometimes like, you know, look in the mirror and be like, like, why? Yeah.
You know, I say, maybe I see myself in a different light as well.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 2: Do you remember that? Do you remember that feeling when you walked out of here
last time after seeing yourself that way?
Person 1: Yes, I do. And I couldn’t believe it.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: It’s pretty.
Person 2: Yeah, yeah. It’s pretty.
Person 1: Yeah, I wouldn’t mind feeling like that again and being like, oh, but, you know, I
actually don’t look too bad, like.
Person 2: Yeah, yeah, it’s infectious, isn’t it? Like, I don’t know, you know, like, whether things
changed for you after the session, but we hear it all the time, you know, seeing myself that way
gave me more confidence and my life just elevated. Or, you know, I was able to show up so
much more because I was proud of who I was. Like, things like that, it just has such an amazing
ripple effect.
Person 2: Yeah, really good.
Person 1: Yeah, beautiful. Well, Casey, I have loved chatting to you and learning about you and
Billy. And I think that sentence that you just said to me before is going to stick for a really long
time. Like, it’s so rare to hear, you know, we hear it all the time, guys ringing up and saying, you
know, I want her to see how incredible she is. And I want to book this in for her. But it is on the
flip side, so powerful to have a female ring up and just be like, he deserves this too. And based
on that alone, I would love to gift you one of these $800 vouchers today.
Person 2: Oh, thank you so much.
Person 1: No, you’re so welcome. I just, when you hear something like that, you know that you
can’t let somebody or, you know, something slip through your fingers. And I think the two of you
are just going to benefit so much from being together in this space.
Person 2: You’re making me cry.
Person 1: Oh, happy tears.
Person 2: Yes, it is.
Person 1: Yeah. It’s our wedding present. Congratulations.
Person 2: Thank you.
Person 1: You’re so welcome, lovely. Alright, so Casey, what we need to do now is pull up the
calendar and have a look at these sessions. Now, like I said, we can have a look at some dates
in and around your work and worst case scenario, we just need seven days to reschedule. But
you mentioned you’ve got a week off next week, is that right?
Person 2: So my roster only goes up until the 1st of November.
Person 1: Okay.
Person 2: So I finish 9 a.m. that’s right at the 1st of November so, and I’m not working again
until the 13th.
Person 1: Until the 13th. Okay, cool. Let's have a little look at that week then and see what we
could do for you guys.
Person 2: I’ve got something, and obviously we’re filling up really quickly because now
everyone’s wanting to do this before Christmas. But I do have something on Tuesday, the 5th of
November.
Person 1: Yep.
Person 2: It would fall on that week off.
Person 1: And I could do 9:25.
Person 2: Oh.
Person 1: Yeah, yeah. I'll just get like, I'll just stay down there the night before so I can get on.
Person 2: Yeah. Would that be an option for the two of you guys to stay the night before?
Person 1: Yeah, because then I’m looking at everything
after that and it’s completely booked.
Person 2: Yeah, so 9:25 on Tuesday the 5th.
Person 1: Amazing. Okay. Tuesday, 5th, 9:25. Congratulations again. I’m so excited for the two
of you and I really, really want to see this just take that huge ripple effect not only in your life but
in Billy’s too. I think that’s some, yeah, such a special intention and yeah, you guys are so, so,
so worthy.
Person 2: Thank you so much.
Person 1: Thank you so much. What I’m going to do now, lovely, is confirm this date for you and
I’m going to allocate your voucher to your file now. You may have remembered from last time
and also when you booked we just take a small refundable deposit. It’s $79 and what happens
is that will go back on your card on the day or you can use it to go towards images so you’ll
have that as a credit on top of the hundred dollars.
Person 2: Yep.
Person 1: Yeah, so that can just go on Visa or MasterCard or whatever you feel whatever’s
easiest for you and then what will happen from there is you're going to get a confirmation email
with all of the details ready for the shoot with you and Billy.
Person 2: You’re right, lovely. I’m just making all these notes anyway and I’m gonna pop down
I’m in on that day.
Person 1: So have, I don’t know if you’re gonna keep this as a surprise or whether you’re
gonna tell him, but have a little chat to Billy and see if he'd be open, you won’t even know I’m
there. I will just sneak behind doing some behind the scenes and then after the fact even if you
just want to have a chat about it on camera or if he doesn’t feel up to it, it’s totally up to you
guys. But I just think it’d be really special to, um, yeah to have that in like you know captured.
Person 2: Yeah, yep, yep.
Person 1: You just let me know.
Person 2: So keep an eye on your junk folder just in case it decides to hide in there, but you’re
going to receive an email in the next 15 minutes that’s going to have all of your information for
your shoot, your voucher and some inspiration as well.
Person 1: Okay then, thank you so much.
Person 2: Oh, you’re so welcome, congratulations again and yeah I can’t wait to meet the two
of you really soon.
Person 1: Bye.
Person 2: Alright. Thanks lovely. Bye.
And that’s the entire conversation!
