Call 2 Transcript
formatted clearly for you into Person 1 (Sales Rep) and Person 2 (Customer):
Person 1 (Sales Rep): Hello. Hi, it's Latoya calling from Studio Republic. How are you?
Person 1: I'm good, thank you. Lovely. I've got your application in front of me for the $800
Boudoir photo session voucher, which is a video.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: It's, you know what? It was actually just a spontaneous, "What the fuck? I'm just
going to put it in kind of a moment."
Person 2: Yeah. The best things come from moments like that I feel.
Person 2: Oh, thank you. I love, yeah, when names... it's so nice to tell.
Person 1: Yeah, it's actually pronounced as Lane. Yeah, it really calls me out. I'm sorry.
Person 1: We let go of the beauty in things sometimes. I blame my parents for it because they
didn't spell it right, so yeah.
Person 1: Alright, the reason for my call is just to learn a little bit more about you and why you'd
love a session with us and then to complete the application. It takes about 15 minutes to go
through this. Does that work for you now?
Person 1: Okay, cool. Alright. So I'm just going to check a few things off on your application if
that's okay with you first. What's your date of birth, lovely?
Person 2: 2nd of March, 1997.
Person 1: March, cool, 87, amazing. Now, we're based here on the Sunshine Coast in
Maroochydore, where's home for you?
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 2: More of a south side girl, yeah. Yeah, I like, I haven't been there, like usually if I do
come up, it's usually Montville and the way, I haven't gone up for years so yeah.
Person 1: It's beautiful there too. Is travel nice and easy for you?
Person 2: Yeah, I should be able to travel. It shouldn't be a problem. I might even do like a night
over if I have to.
Person 1: Yeah, it's a perfect excuse for a weekend away. And the weather is so good for the
beach at the moment.
Person 1: Yeah, I understand that. I get it, I’m Maleny way myself, like it's just the rolling hills
and the quiet, beautiful.
Person 2: Yeah, definitely. Each beach is okay, but yeah, you'll always find me in the mountains
somewhere.
Person 1: Yeah, I love that. Now look, we usually allocate these vouchers to midweek spots,
'cause we work them in and around our retail clients. So I just need to check that if this is, you
know, the voucher is approved, is that something that we could make happen? What's your
availability like?
Person 2: Look, availability is pretty okay. I just need probably a few, maybe a week or two
notice, just so I can put leave in.
Person 2: Oh.
Person 1: So if it's something that can be thorough, that works.
Person 2: Beautiful. So I've got this Friday off. So yeah, every second Friday from this week, I
usually have off. So if it's something that I can do one or two a Friday.
Person 1: Yeah, perfect. We have the same day off. I have every second Friday off too, and this
is my one coming up, yeah.
Person 1: Well, that's definitely easy. We can for sure look at the calendar with the vouchers.
What happens is from the date of approval, you have three weeks to use them. So yeah, we
can definitely look at a Friday that works within your normal roster day off for sure.
Person 2: Cool, cool. Amazing. Alright, so talk to me about, you know, your reasons for
applying. I can see, you know, that you don't believe compliments that are given about you.
Person 1: Okay.
Person 2: Yeah, so I was never, everybody, yeah, calls me beautiful or stunning or just
everything under the sun, and that's not me tooting my own horn, but I don't see what people
say. I've always had body image issues. I've always had self-esteem issues since being a
teenager.
Person 1: So, yeah, I don't see what other people say. Sorry, I think I just want to see what the
camera captures and maybe see it through that lens. Like I've taken a lot of photos of myself but
at the same time, I still don't see what I see.
Person 1: I was looking through the profile you guys have and this one really nice. I think just
there's a rawness to the photos, so I think that's what I was looking for as well. Something more
sensual and just yeah something like that. But at the same time, I'm also quite conservative as
well so I wouldn't wear very revealing clothes or if I did, it'd be very um like I wouldn't be
showing anybody or anything. I'd be just for my personal look, if you're going so.
Person 2: I love that. You know, um the amount of times we've heard that here too, you know,
people that come in and just go, "I’ve been told this my whole life, and I never believed them but
I see it now." Like, you know, it's a huge driving force behind why we do what we do here
because everybody is so worthy and deserving of feeling, you know, sexy and powerful and
confident in the skin that they're in.
Person 2: And, you know, I saw something the other day actually and it was like saying 66.6%
of people aren't comfortable in their own bodies and they do compare themselves to people on
social media, which is mind-blowing.
Person 1: Yeah. Yeah. And I guess that's what Studio Republic is here to do. We want a strong
online presence that shows beauty in such big diversity so that everyone understands there is
no, you know, like boxed-in version of this that we all are worthy of being celebrated. So your
intention aligns beautifully. I love that.
Person 2: Recently I did. Not professionally, it was just a friend kind of thing, but even now I feel
like it's still something missing. Yeah, and then I probably, the last time I did it was when I was a
teenager.
Person 2: So yeah, I guess, yeah, that's why I just went on a whim. I felt in my belly that I
should put something in and see how I grow and see how far I got and just go from there and
just, yeah.
Person 1: I think, yeah, just want to know what people see that I don't.
Person 2: Yeah, and that is such a powerful catalyst. Like once that door opens, the ripple
effect that that has in your relationships, in your career, like all of that stuff. It's just almost like a
door that opens and such a driving force for more powerful change, which is really exciting.
Person 1: What about professional hair and makeup? Have you had that done before?
Person 2: Oh, yeah, I've had it for weddings and stuff like that. Yeah, recently, I'm gonna get it
done again soon actually for a work function.
Person 1: Cool. Yeah, and so makeup, like on your normal day-to-day, is your style quite— you
mentioned your conservative— so is it more a natural look?
Person 2: Yeah, okay. And you know, with professional hair and makeup, do you tend to go a
little bit more glam or do you keep it like that soft and subtle glow?
Person 1: I don't mind going glam and things like that. It's more, yeah, when you're…
Person 2: Yeah, I've always been a soft and subtle kind of person, but in saying that, I am
thinking, I've got a work function coming up, which is black tie, so I'm thinking to go full glam
look but I'm not sure yet.
Person 1: Yeah, nice. You know what would be really cool if your application was approved and
we got you like a morning on that day and then your hair and makeup would be done and you
could just roll up to the black and white looking model-ready.
Person 2: Yeah, I know right, and I can just bring the dress and yeah, I'm done.
Person 2: Yeah, exactly. I love that. Well, let's see how we go with that.
Person 1: I'm going to put it over here. OK, cool. So, you know, talk to me about life right now.
What does it look like for you at the moment?
Person 2: Life has been pretty difficult the past year. So I've gone through a separation with my
husband and recently moved back home. Sorry, I did move in with my parents, but then I've
gone back to my home home because my hubby was living there.
Person 1: Okay.
Person 2: So, um, we've had a pretty difficult separation. It hasn't been an arctic one. It's been,
um, it's been neutral, but, um, unfortunately due to life and decisions and things like that, we've
had to make the call.
Person 1: Um, so it's been quite difficult for both of us because we still love each other very,
very dearly, most do each other's best friends and things like that. Choices, life choices have to,
yeah, it’d be nice.
Person 2: So we’ve had to unfortunately pull the plug on that and yeah, it's been quite a very
difficult ride the past 12 months.
Person 1: And yeah, we've got bad and then work has been quite difficult as well in the
beginning of the year, but now it's finally getting to a sweet spot, which is really nice.
Person 1: Okay.
Person 2: Yeah, and so yeah, my work's going good, and then just, yeah, just, I think because
I've recently moved back home, I'm trying to self-discover myself, through who I actually am.
Person 1: Because I'm living alone in a big house and it's just, okay, what do I do with myself
now?
Person 1: Yeah, it's like, yeah, I can relate to what you're saying and it's almost like a really
loving unraveling, you know, you're learning to let go of a relationship that, you know, that was
sort of, not how you designed yourself, but yeah.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: Life sometimes takes away that play or that, I guess that lens of opportunity and it
just takes a moment to reset and understand that it's still there and then watch what happens
and life gets real good when you start to shift that perspective.
Person 1: And go, "No, it's still here and I'm still here and I just have been looking at it from, you
know, an angle of struggle but I'm changing that now."
Person 2: Exactly.
Person 1: We’ve been doing this for over 15 years and our studio in Maroochydore is absolutely
stunning. It's a big two-story building and we're classified as a Roaming Studio so there's so
much variety like it's just the most beautiful place.
Person 2: So many people say, "Oh the hardest part was walking in those doors but as soon as
I did I felt like just loved and supported and all of those nerves dissolved," which is really, really
special and something we pride ourselves on.
Person 1: So you mentioned like your normal vibe is quite conservative, but you wanted to
capture like almost an intimate rawness for yourself, right?
Person 2: Yeah, it's definitely a rawness, I guess. And I really don't mind if they're boudoir
photos or anything like that, or even just skin photos.
Person 1: Like I really don't know, obviously I'm not going to show them to the public or
anything. And I probably won't want them shared or anything.
Person 2: But I just want to capture some real ones, I want to capture some real seriousness of
the fan time also show some fun as well, like showing my goofy silly self as well.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 1: The beautiful thing about this voucher and this opportunity is you actually get two
different looks. So on the day you will have two professional hair and makeup changes. And you
could do one look that's more, you know, raw and sensual and intimate for you.
Person 1: And then the other look, you could pop on some colour and make it fun and playful
and, you know, let that, that younger, more innocent version of yourself out as well.
Person 2: So, you know, you do have a, yeah, you've got the opportunity to capture like Two
sides of yourself and bring them to life as well, which yeah, which is really cool.
Person 2: Yay!
Person 1: Alright, so I'm just gonna clarify what it is you've applied for exactly. So like I said
earlier, we're on a mission to bring more confidence to people. It's a horrible statistic and you
know, our big mission is to completely eradicate that.
Person 1: The vouchers are our way of giving back. So we allocate a limited amount of our
sessions each week as a gift to people who we feel are really going to get a lot out of having
this session. And you're going to appreciate it as well because the intention behind all of this is
just to, you know, uplift and break those horrible statistics that are increasing every single day.
So that's what you've applied for.
Person 1: Now, it's a full half-day photo session with us and that's worth $700 plus then you get
$100 to go towards any photo. So $800 in total.
Person 2: It's an amazing giveaway and because it's such a massive value, that's why we go
through this application process. We want to make sure that you know, the people we give to
are really needing something like this and they're going to benefit of course as well.
Person 1: Yeah, so to break down what the session with us looks like if you're successful, it's a
full half day that's just for you. It has a big beautiful amount of time out and some pampering
which sounds pretty bloody amazing, especially when we're constantly in work mode.
Person 1 (Sales Rep): It goes for three to four hours altogether. And you can bring along your
favorite outfits and we have a personal stylist that will help you put together two amazing looks
for yourself. So you can have two different shoot styles. You get to relax and be pampered
having your hair and makeup done twice. So you can do as natural or creative as you like, the
intention behind that setting is just to highlight your best features in the most natural and
authentic way.
Person 2 (Customer): Yeah, we don't ever want to come in and feel like you look like
something that you're not. It's the aim of the game. We want to showcase you, so that's really
important.
Person 1: You're guided the entire way through your photo session with a female photographer
so you don’t have to think about posing or what to do in front of the camera. Like I mentioned
earlier, this is something we specialize in.
Person 1: Now the best part and what really sets us apart from other studios is you get to see
all of your photos on the exact same day and our little cocky guarantee is that they will be the
best photos you've ever seen of yourself. So pretty, but it’s crucial.
Person 2: Yeah, I think that's the best part, looking at what has been captured.
Person 1: Yeah, and then the mind-blowing thing, and I think this is what a lot of people
struggle to comprehend, is you have, like after your shoot’s done, you sit down for maybe 10, 15
minutes, have something to eat and drink and then we take you straight into the viewing room.
So the images that you see are what we capture in real time. There's no editing, there's no
Photoshop, like you're actually looking at yourself.
Person 2: Yeah, exactly and I think that's what people sit there and they're like, "Hang on a
second, like there’s no way they could have changed these images in that amount of time. That
is really me."
Person 1: And that’s where the power lies. Same with hair and makeup. Like, hair and makeup,
they have half an hour from start to finish. We're not doing, you know, like, life-altering things
that change, you know, your makeup.
Person 2: Yeah, yeah. And I think that’s, yeah, what tests us apart is you actually, it's real
people in real time. And it’s really...
Person 1: That’s why I’ve always done natural soft makeup because I don’t like, I do like a
glamorous look, like once here and there, but I don’t like changing your natural features look
and just having a whole different face. It’s something that, yeah, I don’t like enhancing eyes and
things like that, but at the same time, I don’t want to completely change what it looks like.
Person 2: No, well it defeats the purpose of self-love, doesn’t it? Like if you feel like you have to
alter something, then it’s not really loving or accepting that, for sure.
Person 1: Yeah, no, well that’s really good. Like I said, as soon as you started talking, I was
like, yep, no, no alignment. I love this.
Person 1: So yeah, we sit down in a viewing room after the session and we go through with you
and select whatever collection of images you love and that fits comfortably within your budget.
So we’re here to facilitate whatever you want to take home in a way that’s financially
comfortable for you. We don’t have a minimum spend. It’s really important to mention that
because a lot of studios do.
Person 1: And it’s, you know, that’s not, again, like the value of what we’re doing here far
outweighs that so it’s not even a, you know, a thing that comes into perspective in that space
because it’s such a life-altering journey.
Person 2: And you're teaching women how to self-love through a lens, which is, and capturing
something that they don't know what they are. So it’s, it's, yeah, it’s my... it’s really good work.
Person 1: Yeah, no, it’s, it’s something we really love being a part of and every single person
that works here wants to come in so much more than what we actually do because it’s
contagious. Like, it’s, you know, you meet people who have these incredible stories and it
makes you love you a little bit more and be used to really consciously see the beauty in
everything, so it’s a very infectious and contagious place to be. It’s pretty special.
Person 2: Now, our photos start at $195 but we find that most people want more than one. So
we have a range of collections with multiple images and they start at $775. To make it really
comfortable and affordable for everyone we have some incredible interest-free repayment plans
and most people with those spend somewhere between $15 to $60 per week so as long as
somewhere between those two figures is comfortable, then I guarantee this experience is going
to be very life-altering for you.
Person 1: Talk to me, lovely, $15 to $60, is that something that sits comfortably for you?
Person 1: Yeah, and like, if you can say that then 1000% like everything that we've spoken
about today is just, I'm a firm believer in things pop up just as we need them. So I love that
you've seen this and then have gone, no, there's something about that that I need to delve into.
Person 2: Yeah.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 1: Yeah, like, it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. So if I don’t get selected, then that’s not
like, I’m gonna be trashing or anything like that.
Person 1: Yeah.
Person 2: So my jelly’s a feeling.
Person 2: And it’s always right. I think we question ourselves, but when we really come back to
that intuitive core, our body is telling us something, you know, and I, yeah, I fully believe that
and like after having this conversation with you. I’m like, yeah 1,000%.
Person 1: Like I don’t even want to let you hang up, I feel like, based on everything you told me,
you are the exact reason why we’re here, why we’re doing this work. You are the perfect
candidate to receive one of these $800 vouchers and I would, I don’t know... Do you know what,
like, it’s, yeah, and I can’t wait for you to look at this and sit back and just be like, "Oh my God,
that is what everybody has been saying." I think it’s just going to be such a pivotal point in your
journey. And I would be so honoured to gift you one of these $800 vouchers today, lovely.
Person 2: No, you know, you're so deserving. And, you know, 12 months, you've just been
unravelling and coming home to a different version of you and this is just going to take it to the
next level.
Person 1: Thank you. I didn't think I'd be getting it, but thank you.
Person 1: No. No, I’m so, so proud of you for stepping outside of your comfort zone and just
leaning in. You know, your body told you something and you’ve lent in and you’ve gone, there’s
more to this and I feel like this is where I need to be and that’s such a powerful move.
Person 1: You’re so welcome. Now let’s look at the calendar because I want to see if we could
line it up for that Saturday.
Person 1: Yeah, yeah, let’s have a little look. Because I feel like how good—what’s that, work
with your...
Person 2: It’d be freaking awesome, but then I can bring in the ball dress and take photos and
that.
Person 1: What?
Person 2: And then just roll on out and be like, hey guys, I'm very nice.
Person 1: I know, right?
Person 1: Alright, let’s have a little look see. So that’s the 12th, is that right?
Person 1: Your, this must be like fate, because I have one space left at 2 o'clock.
Person 2: 2 o'clock, oh, is that 2 o'clock? Would that be cutting it fine? I don’t know. It might be
because I have to be at the function at 6 o’clock and I don’t know how traffic’s going to be.
Person 1: Yeah, true. Okay, so you want to align time for traffic... um, 9:20 I could push this
back and I could get you in first thing in the morning at 9:25.
Person 2: I reckon I can do that. And then I can just drive, I can drive Friday night and yeah, I
reckon I can do that.
Person 1: Yeah, and then like, because then you’ll be wrapping up pretty much around like
mid-day and then that will give you time to like travel back. That hair and makeup too ain't going
nowhere, so it's gonna last for your night.
Person 1: Yeah, a thousand percent. Yeah, especially because you get the true look, so you're
going to get it done first off, but then you'll have a shoot, then they touch you up again.
Person 2: Yeah, so I think it would definitely, definitely, yeah, be still very, very hot ready for me.
Person 1: Yeah, no, definitely. And I don't need to put the dress on until I get back on.
Person 2: Yeah, yeah, definitely. Bring it with you if you wanna have photos in it and stuff, and
then you can just change into something comfy for your drive, and then just pop it back on. But
yeah, even like we can leave notes, but mention to the hair and makeup artist that you're going
out at night, she can use like a setting spray and all that sort of stuff to make it last for sure.
Person 2: Yay!
Person 1: Goodie. I love that. You know Saturdays are like usually months in the event, so I
love so much that I’ve just gone, you know, well let’s take a chance.
Person 2: Perfect.
Person 1: I’m going to get that all confirmed in the calendar now for you. While I’m doing that,
I’m also going to allocate your voucher to your file. Now you would have seen when you booked
that we just take a small refundable deposit to book it all in for you. It’s just $79 and what
happens is you can choose to have that refunded back onto your card on the day, or you can
use it as credit to go towards your photos. It’s entirely up to you. So you’ve already got that $100
credit, so then you just have $179 on your file.
Person 2: Cool.
Person 1: Amazing. Well, I’m going to do all the things on my end to apply this to your voucher.
So when you’re ready, lovely, just grab whatever card details are perfect for you and we can pop
that through and lock it down. I’m just gonna apply this voucher which is so freaking exciting.
Person 2: I might even, even if I can’t stay with my driver, I might even drive early morning so
she'll get me traffic.
Person 1: No, not on a Saturday morning. I’m in that Saturday too, so I can’t wait to meet you.
Person 1: Yes, no I can’t wait. I just, yeah, I want to be there at the end once you've seen those
and I’ll come out and be like, “Do you see it now?”
Person 2: Yeah, yeah. So cool. Alright, sorry. I’ll cut the card if you need that.
Person 1: Now what will happen is from here you’re going to, in the next 15 minutes, receive an
email from me that will have all of your confirmation details, your voucher, some inspiration, and
all of that good stuff and we will also touch base with you early next week to run through looks
and style ideas and stuff like that.
Person 2: Yay, well that’s all been confirmed, lovely, so congratulations again.
Person 1: No, I’m so glad that we were able to have this chat today and for me to get to know
you, it’s been really beautiful.
Person 2: Yeah, me too, I really can’t wait to spend the day there.
Person 1: Yay, alright darling, we have a beautiful Tuesday and we will see you next week.
Person 2: OK, no worries. Take care. Thank you, bye.
Person 1: Bye.
