CHAPTER ONE
What happened?

John 1, 2 and 3
What happened to me? Very good question, and very important.

Knowing what happened and what it means will help him for the rest of his Christian life.
It happened in the church, or in their own house, or anywhere else. Someone was
beside him to help him, or perhaps you were alone, or wasn't it something like that? He felt
in need. Somehow he knew that Jesus Christ could help him and asked him.
that came into his life.
Well, and what is all this? Let's put it in a simpler way: Two things.
have happened.
Christ is now HIS Savior.
You are now a child of God.
We call this salvation. It is likely that someone has already told you.
mentioned that you are safe.
Maybe right now you are asking yourself: what does this mean? Saved from what?
Why did you need to be saved?
God wants us to know three extremely important things:
1.-That we are sinners.
2.- That we cannot save ourselves.
3.-Only Christ can save us.
The Bible says: 'All have sinned' (Romans 3:23).
This includes you and me. It also says: 'The wages of sin is death.'
(Romans 6:23). This kind of death is spiritual and eternal.
We cannot save ourselves from this death, nor by our good deeds.
works, nor for being members of any church or for trying to be good. The only
the way to be saved (here the word 'saved' appears) from condemnation is
get rid of our sins.
Now, how can we be saved? Jesus provided the way by dying on the cross.
When he did this, he took our place and suffered our punishment. When we ask
to God who forgives our sins and we believe that Christ died for us,
God accepts us because of Christ; our sins are forgiven and Christ
he himself is our Savior.
But something else has happened, you are now a child of God. A child of God? What
What does this mean? Look at it this way: when you came into the world, you received life.
natural of their parents. That is why they resemble them and possess many of their
characteristics.
When Christ came to be your Savior, he brought you into a new life. Spiritual life,
the life of God. The Bible calls this the 'new birth' (John 3:3). By the first
birth, you are the child of your earthly parents; by the new, or second
birth you are a child of God, of your Heavenly Father.
This is very important! You now have two natures. The nature that
received when it was born for the first time. We call this the life of the "self", and the
nature that received in the second birth. Since Christ is now living
in you by your spirit, we can well call it the 'life of Christ'.
According to your birth, whether first or natural, you can be an adult or a young person.
or a child; but according to the second or spiritual you are a little boy, a baby. It has
received new life, but it is just the beginning.
Your spiritual life has to grow. You would not wish to remain always being
a spiritual child; you long to become a mature Christian.
In the coming days, I will show you how to grow spiritually. It would be useless.
how important these days are. You will establish new rules for the rest
of your life. You will determine for yourself what kind of Christian you will be. If
carefully follow each suggestion, you will become a happy and fulfilled Christian
satisfied.

CHAPTER TWO

And now, what else?

Bible reading for today: John 4, 5 and 6.

In the last part of the first chapter, I told you that you are a spiritual child and that
It needs to grow. Isn’t it regrettable when due to some physical affliction, a child grows
in their body but mentally remains a baby their whole life? Well, it is
even more terrible when someone becomes a child of God through the
salvation and then stops developing spiritually.
This doesn't have to happen to you. If you follow these instructions, you can easily and...
quickly become a strong and mature Christian.
First of all, remember that your spiritual life depends on Jesus Christ, the Son of God, 'The
He who has the Son has life” (1 John 5:12). This is the Epistle of John almost at the end.

The verse prior to this tells us that 'God has given us eternal life; and this life
it is in your son.
Christ lives in you. Do not forget it.
Receiving life is not enough, you must nurture that life. When the child is born
In nature, it dies if the parents do not take care to feed it. It must

This also happens in relation to the new spiritual life. If you nourish it, it will grow; if
the careless one will also die.
It's that simple and it all depends on you.
Let's see now, what things will help you in this growth?

The Bible
Tomorrow we will talk more about the Bible. The use or neglect of the Bible
will determine the kind of Christian you are going to be. This is why we suggest that

Regular attendance at church

If you take a coal from the middle of the fire and set it aside, it will soon go out.
In the same way, Christians need the encouragement of other Christians. Hearing the Word
from God, praying with others, singing together, finding new Christian friends, all of this

CHAPTER THREE

How can I understand the Bible?

Biblical Reading for today: John 7, 8 and 9

As I explained in chapter two, the Bible is one of the most effective aids.
for the spiritual growth of the individual. There are five ways by which the Bible
can become part of you:

I heard the word

You noticed that I often refer to the Bible as 'the Word'. This is
because it is God's way of communicating with us. In the same way that
we use words to express our thoughts to others, so God
uses the Bible to express itself to us.
Since listening is a way of receiving the Word of God in our lives, during
in these first days and weeks of your Christian experience, develop the habit of
attend each service at the church, as much as possible. There you will hear the
Word of God.
Form the habit of sitting at the front, so that you are not distracted. Carry
always your Bible and search in it for the passages that the preacher refers to. Take
notes and this will help you remember the most important points.

Read the Word

Another way to take the Word of God into our lives is to read it regularly.
The type of habits we form will determine our character, and one of these
One of the habits is the regular reading of the Bible.

Set a reasonable task. Start by reading for about 15 minutes in the morning and
perhaps the same time when going to bed at night. Bring your New
Testament and read it at noon.
For your devotional readings, use a Bible in which you can underline the verses.
that they have touched his heart and if he feels guided, write his notes in the
page margin. At the end of the book, we suggest some readings that will be helpful to you.
great spiritual benefit.
Study the Word
This will take you more time, but it is worth more. At the end of each chapter, you have
a little bit of study to occupy oneself for now. For a study, after this
a week will need more time, at least an hour or perhaps some afternoon that
have free.

Memorize the Word

Note that these steps become increasingly difficult, but this is the way to
obey the verse that says: 'I have hidden your words in my heart' (Psalm
Start with the verses I have suggested to you day by day. Try to
understand its meaning and then focus on the most important words. For
example in Psalm 119:11 the most important words are 'heart', 'guarded'
and "sayings." Then memorize the entire verse and also the citation.

Meditate in the Word

If you have already read, heard, studied, and memorized the Bible, then you already have something in
what to meditate. In moments of stillness, while doing housework,
waiting for the bus or walking can occupy your mind. If you can't sleep
At night, try to think of some passage or verse from the Bible.

FOURTH CHAPTER

How can I pray effectively?

Biblical reading for today: John 10, 11 and 12

The Bible can be compared to food because it nourishes our spiritual life.
Thus, the sentence can resemble breathing. Breathing has two
movements, inhalation (bringing air in) and exhalation (expulsion of
air). So it is with God in prayer; we approach God and then he answers us.
approaching us.
The person who says, 'I don't have time to pray' is one hundred percent correct.
You should make time for prayer. A good habit is to do it while
that we read the Bible. Moreover, I know some people who read their Bible
being on their knees, and thus, if any truth touches their hearts, they stop a
moment and pray about it.
You will never become a mature and established Christian without a prayer life.

Why pray

In five minutes, the material will run out. Well, one way to solve this ...
the problem is to direct your prayer in a different direction each day. (At the end of the book
you will find some suggestions regarding this.

Different types of sentences

A good solution to the problem of why pray is to recognize that there are various kinds
of sentences. Basically, it is simply talking to God.
Request. This is asking God to meet certain needs. Although there are people
that never goes beyond the phase of 'give me, give me' and always remains asking for
God; there is nothing wrong in asking the Lord for his help. Moreover, he encourages us to
that we bring our needs to Him.
Thanksgiving. Remember that prayer is a two-way street. Do not forget
thank God for what he has already done for you. This is one of the best
ways to begin our prayer. The best of all is that when remembering how much he
has done for you, your faith is strengthened.

Praise. This is similar to the act of gratitude, but it deals more with the
What God is, with what He has done. At times, reading a psalm
Out loud can admirably express our feelings towards God.
Worship. This is also very close to praise, but it is more concerning.
to our contemplative attitude towards God. There will be occasions when the words
will be insufficient to express their feelings, and the only thing their lips say
they will be words of praise, such as Hallelujah! Glory to God! It can also be,
may it remain in complete silence, enraptured by the feeling of how great
is God.
Intercession. The day will come when you will feel responsible for the need of
another person in such a way that it becomes a "burden" to make them pray until obtaining
the assurance that God has answered their prayer. This is one of the most
important sentences because in them we forget about ourselves to focus
our attention to others. How much need there is for this kind of prayers.

How does God answer

This is extremely important. God always answers every prayer. Sometimes we
it says 'yes', others tell us 'no' and often it responds 'wait'. However,
the time we spend in prayer is never wasted. This is because God
He is more interested in what he can do for you than simply in what
I can do for you.

The public prayer

Sooner or later, someone will ask you to lead the prayer. Don't be scared.
Simply remember that you are praying to God and not to the congregation. Pray as
representative of the group and express to the gentleman what you believe is the desire

How can I become a strong Christian?

Bible reading for today: John 13, 14 and 15

As a Christian, you need to be strong for two reasons: 1) To live a life
victorious. 2) To serve the Lord. You may feel inadequate. That's okay!
You must feel in need before the Lord can help you.

Power to overcome
You can expect that the first time you fall, the devil will come and whisper in your ear:
You cannot live the Christian life; it is better for you to stay away from that. Be alert. This
it is Satan's favorite tactic.
It may be that he feels defeated because he is tempted, even when he has not fallen.

Surrender to God. Trust in Christ as your helper to overcome. A certain one said once a

and move forward.

Power for service

Now that you have been saved, the Holy Spirit has one more task for you. It is called the
baptism in the Holy Spirit and it is the same experience that we see in the chapter
two of the book of the Acts of the Apostles.
Before ascending to heaven, the Lord told his disciples that he would baptize them in the Spirit.

SIXTH CHAPTER
What does God expect from me?

John 16, 17 and 18

In John 16:13 we read that the Holy Spirit will "guide us into all truth." Some
phases of this truth will be extremely pleasant, while others will bring
responsibilities corresponding to a child of God.
Of course, all of this is part of spiritual growth. In natural life, the
a child bears almost no responsibility, but as they approach the
age of majority, those are multiplying. I'm sure you don't want
to remain a spiritual child, so that we see some responsibilities that
from now on they are yours.

Make Christ your Lord

When Jesus was here on earth, his disciples showed him their loyalty by
they called him 'Lord' or 'Master'. He accepted such titles and position and said: 'If you love me,
keep my commandments" (John 14:15).
Thus as a believer, you now belong to Christ. Before you belonged to
Satan, but Christ bought him with his own blood.
When we consider how much Jesus has done for us; how He died for
we, how he has saved us from the very hell, we will rejoice for every
opportunity to show him our love and obey him.

Give Christ the first place in your life

Properly, this says it all. Stay in touch with him, talk to him through
in the middle of the prayer, at set times and when alone during the day.
When you read the Bible, think that Jesus is speaking to you. Make Christ the center of
his life.

Give Christ your time

There must have been a change in your life and in your habits. If you really want to make
of his life a continuous success will want to be present in every service at the church. He will want to
have a set time for your private prayer and with your family if you have one. Everything
this takes time but, it is definitely worth it!
Consecrate your abilities to Christ
What skills? You may ask. Everyone can do something. If you have any talent
special, dedicate it to the work of the Lord. You may want to take lessons to
develop some skill or talent. Now, apart from these skills or talents
natural, there are many, many more tasks in which you can lend your
help. Your pastor or some other leader in the church will be pleased to accept you.
as a volunteer.
Here is an idea that I have found quite beneficial: Promise the Lord that
will do everything they ask.

Give to Christ from your material possessions

We already said before that you now belong to the Lord. This means
also when you possess. Well, we cannot give anything to the Lord
Well, he is the owner of everything. But what we give is an investment. The business more
big all over the world. Would you like to start tithing, that is, contributing to
the tenth part of his earnings for work and the servant of God. Does it seem difficult?
Do it? I assure you that you will find that the nine parts will be enough for you to
more, as if I used ten without tithing.

Become a member of a church

You now belong to a new family, the people of God. Show that you
also belongs, joining the local unit of the Universal Church that is
composed of all true believers in Christ. It will make you feel even more,
as an integral part of the group, and will provide greater opportunities to help
others. Through his church and its ministries, he will be able to reach even to 'the ends of
the earth,” and you will find that the church can also minister to your needs.

Share your faith with others

Surely someone spoke to you about Christ or you wouldn't be saved today. Don't you think?
you, who now has the obligation to help others as well? While
take advantage of every opportunity to testify, you are gaining greater skill and
effectiveness. After your salvation, the most impressive thing will be to guide someone
at the feet of Christ. Talk to someone about Christ today!

Some can, others cannot. This does not refer to sinful acts, since

deals with the world in the realm of individuality. Do not expect everyone to be
just like you.
Consider others. Some things that you find acceptable.

When I have to make a decision

I am referring to decisions in life, not to matters of behavior. There will be
occasions when you will not know what course of action to take. How will you
decide it?
Be patient. There is a verse in the Bible that says: 'He who believes, does not...'

mature your confidants. Make sure your confidant is discreet. Someone

(3) Entrust the matter to the Lord. A famous Christian used this method:
I made a list of the pros and another of the cons, and then in prayer, I considered the

Getting along with others

This, usually, would not be regarded as something dependent on the will of God.
but it is one of the most important aspects of Christian life.
If you still don't know, you will soon realize that Christians are not
perfect. Just like in your case, God is trying to develop and
perfect their characters to make them resemble Christ.
Some people are instinctively valued; while others are not.
