📖 International

Literacy Day
Assembly Script (7
Students – Grade 5)

Opening
Child 1 (Anchor):
Good morning everyone! Today, we are
gathered to celebrate International Literacy
Day. This day reminds us of the power of
education and how it changes lives.

Scene 1 – Two Worlds: Educated vs.

Uneducated
Child 2 (Poor Child – no education):
(holding a basket, looking tired)
Every day, I work in the streets. I wish I
could read books, but my family is too poor
to send me to school. Without education, my
dreams are lost.
Child 3 (Educated Child):
(holding books, wearing a school bag)
I go to school every day. I read, write, and
learn new things. Education gives me hope,
confidence, and a chance for a bright future.
Child 2:
(sighs) If I had education, maybe I could
become a doctor, a teacher, or even a
scientist.

Scene 2 – Child Labour vs. Learning

Child 4 (Narrator):
Millions of children are forced into child
labour because they cannot go to school.
Without education, they remain trapped in
poverty.
Child 5 (Educated Voice):
But when children study, they can break
free from this cycle. Education is the key to
freedom and opportunity.

Scene 3 – Developed vs.

Underdeveloped Countries
Child 6 (Narrator):
Look at developed countries! They have
advanced technology, hospitals, jobs, and a
better quality of life. Why? Because they
invested in education.
Child 7 (Narrator):
But many underdeveloped countries still
suffer from poverty and problems because
children there are not getting proper
education. The difference is clear—literacy
builds nations.

Scene 4 – Strong Message

Child 1 (Anchor):
So, friends, education is not just about
reading and writing. It is about living with
dignity, chasing dreams, and creating a
better tomorrow.
All Together:
“No child should hold tools of labour,
Every child must hold the light of books!”

Song (Original – Easy for Kids to Sing)

🎵 Tune suggestion: simple, like “Twinkle,
Twinkle” 🎵
Lyrics – “Light of Education”
Education is the light,
Shining through the darkest night.
Books and pencils in our hand,
Build a future, strong and grand.
No more labour, no more tears,
School will chase away our fears.
Education is the light,
Shining through the darkest night.
(All 7 can sing together at the end.)

Closing
Child 3 (Educated Child):
Let us promise today that we will respect
learning, help others learn, and spread the
gift of education.
All Together (final line):
“Literacy is freedom, education is power,
Together we can build a brighter hour!”
