1. SECURITY PLAN FOR THUNDERSTORMS

This lightning storm safety plan will provide information

about the measures that employees should take during bad weather.
It constitutes a very important instrument that must be fulfilled.
mandatory, every time adverse weather conditions occur,
during the development of activities to be carried out in the Remediation of
platform of areas, whose purpose is to protect the lives of workers of
direct and indirect form within the project, this plan contains step and
measures to prevent, control, avoid and/or minimize risks during the
electric shocks.

2. OBJECTIVES:
Preserve the lives of workers and their physical integrity.
Define the alerts and warnings related to tornadoes and storms.
To inform the company officials and workers in
general, the basic guidelines of this plan; for execution and
application of specific functions in emergency situations in order to
to avoid, reduce and/or minimize personal and material damages.

3. SCOPE
This procedure is applicable to all work areas of the
Company.

4. DEFINITIONS
Electric Storm: Atmospheric phenomenon characterized by the
coexistence of two or more air masses of different temperatures and that
is accompanied by electric discharges (lightning) and rainfall or
hail.
Refuge: Any environment that meets the conditions of Cage
Faraday, such as closed containers, houses, vehicles, or equipment with
closed cabins (on wheels or tracks).
Faraday cage: any closed environment that guarantees that the charge
electricity accumulated on the outside of the walls of the environment,
Regardless of what could be inside, it does not enter the interior.
Lightning: It is a powerful natural electrostatic discharge produced during
a thunderstorm
Lightning: Emission of light by the emission of light (lightning) caused by
the electric current of the lightning that ionizes the molecules of air.

Thunder: Noise associated with lightning produced by electricity that

passes through the atmosphere that heats and rapidly expands the air.
Yellow Alert: It is the condition of a thunderstorm that is perceived by
the human ear, which will indicate to the staff that they must prepare for
evacuate, distancing from power transmission lines, mountain peaks,
water mirrors, transmission antennas, and any other element
electric conductor.
Red Alert: It is the condition of a thunderstorm in which the human eye
perceives the electric discharge (lightning) or after perceiving the flash
10 seconds or less pass before the sound is perceived.
thunder. In this case, personnel should take shelter.
Storm Detector: Equipment designed for storm detection
electric, portable type brand Thunder Bolt Storm Detector. This equipment
must have the corresponding calibration certificate of the
manufacturer.
Responsible Person: Qualified and designated individuals, led by
the Head of Security responsible for coordinating activities in case of
thunderstorm.
Storm period: For the purposes of this procedure it is necessary
define the following periods:
Period April - August: During this period, the phenomenon of condition
the risk of thunderstorms is minimal and almost null.
September-March period. Period during which the season takes place.
rainy and during which the occurrence of condition is frequent
thunderstorms.

The collaborators will be trained to identify the shelter that will be a

safe environment. It will be located 30 m from the work front.

10. PROCEDURE

10.1. IDENTIFICATION OF THUNDERSTORM

10.2. YELLOW ALERT
When the detector light blinks yellow, it means that
the distance of the thunderstorm is from 8 to 32 km.
the person in charge of the portable storm detector will inform the supervisor and
the collaborators in the yellow alert work area. The staff in
general should:

Continue working as long as they are at a distance of 30 to

40 m. from a shelter.
The staff must prepare to tidy up their work area and store
the equipment, tools and being ready to take shelter in places already
identified.
Field personnel must separate themselves at a distance greater than
100 meters of any metal structure that does not have a mesh
or ground line,
Strip off metallic materials
Make sure that people do not gather close to or under
elevated structures.
All work at height must be suspended.
Avoid depressions in the ground where water flows.
The radio antennas must be folded down.
Make sure that the crane booms are fully retracted.

All cranes with additional booms that cannot be

retracted must be grounded
Do not located near high voltage lines, telephone lines
The supervisors will arrange for the evacuation vehicles and
refuge approach the danger areas where there are personnel of
field.
The equipment operators will remain working in their cabins.
with the windows and doors closed.

10.3. Red Alert

When the detector light flashes red, it means that the
the distance of the thunderstorm is from 0 to 8 km. The responsible person of
portable storm detector must report to the supervisor and to the
work area collaborators, the red alert. The staff in general
must:

Evacuate to the shelter.

Close the doors and windows properly.
Do not touch metal things.
The staff inside the shelter should avoid contact with the
metal parts of it.

The work carried out in offices, workshops, etc. that involves

Electrical equipment and/or installations must be shut down.
immediately and the electrical equipment must be turned off.

All floor staff must evacuate immediately to the shelters

established and defined by the area supervisor.

Stay in the shelter until you are informed only by your

operations supervisor or the authorized personnel authorizing their
abandonment of the refuge.

Under no circumstances shall the staff remain at the

outdoors, including administrative staff. Only transit will be allowed
from one office to another as long as it does not involve walking more than
100 meters, and after a discharge.

The doors of the camp facilities must be kept

closed until the state of Red alert is lifted.

who will determine the lifting of the red alert status
according to readings from the portable detector.

10.4. RESPONSE IN CASE OF THUNDERSTORM

In General:

a) Stay calm at all times and assess the situation.

b) Keep in mind that we are all, without exceptions, exposed to the
effects of the thunderstorm.
c) During the storm, three effects of electrical energy are presented.
produced that can affect us:
a. Direct download: impact of the lightning directly on the
person.
b. Induction: when a lightning strikes the ground, the energy
free, many times, travels through the land searching for a point
where to download this energy or dissipate it. This is done by
point of least resistance, such as the body
human.
c. Static: due to the presence of rain or hail with which
the thunderstorm is accompanied, it is possible that when it
give a grounding discharge in the environment where energy remains
static.
d) The shelters should remain closed at all times during which
During the Red Alert state. They are not shelters: BATHROOMS
LAPTOPS, TRIPLEX HOUSES, CALAMINA HOUSES,
OPEN STRUCTURES, etc.), EQUIPMENT CABINS OR
OPEN VEHICLES INDEPENDENT OF SIZE
OPENING, OPEN OFFICES OR ROOMS, CISTERN
FUEL, FUEL STORAGE O
HYDROCARBONS.
e) Fixed installations must have an operational lightning rod that
completely cover the installation area. These lightning rods must
be grounded. A lightning rod only protects
INSTALLATIONS, DOES NOT PROTECT PEOPLE.
The line staff, supervisors, and foremen are
required to report incidents or accidents that arise as
results of electric discharges from thunderstorms in
immediate form.
