The graph below gives information from a 2008
report about consumption of energy in the USA
since 1980 with projections until 2030.

The line chart illustrates the energy utilization of the USA,
measured in quadrillion units, from 1980, together with forecasts
up to 2030.
Overall, the usage of most of the energy sources is expected to
increase during the period, except for hydropower, which is
predicted to stay relatively unchanged, despite some fluctuations.
Additionally, petrol and oil stood as the most consumed source of
energy and this trend is forecasted to continue until the end of
the course.
Regarding petrol and oil, its figure began at 35, then grew slightly
to reach around 40 in 2005. The usage of petrol and oil is
expected to maintain the leading position, at nearly 50 by 2030.
Similarly, coal is forecast to experience a significant increase in its
consumption, rising from nearly 16 to over 30 at the end of the
period, becoming the second-highest figure in the chart compared
to others. There was a steady rise in the natural gas utilization,
from 20 to 25, before being predicted to level off at this level from
2015 onwards.
Turning to other energy sources, nuclear, solar and wind,
hydropower all started at the initial point of approximately 3.
Moreover, nuclear usage is expected to reach roughly 7 by 2030.
While the consumption of solar and wind is projected to undergo
the same trend, hitting around 4 at the end of the period,
hydropower stayed relatively stable, fluctuating at approximately
3 throughout the course.
