MULTIPLE REFLECTION
LO: Analyze the multiple reflection in plane mirrors and
to solve the numerical.
HANDS ON ACTIVITY
MY TASK-CHOICE BOARD
LEVEL 1
1. Using the formula provided, find out the number of images when two plane mirrors are placed at an angle
of 30 degrees with each other.
2. How does the concept of multiple reflections apply in the setting of a barber shop?
LEVEL 2
1. When the angle between two plane mirrors is 72 degrees, how many multiple images will be formed by the
mirrors?
2. Explore how the property of multiple reflection is used in submarines. Name the instrument used and
explain the process.
LEVEL 3
1. What is the required angle between two plane mirrors to obtain eight images of a single object?
2. Mirror maze in Dubai mall is one of the sought-out tourist attractions in Dubai. Explore how the property of
multiple reflection is used for amusement purposes.
LEVEL 4
1. If you arrange the mirrors parallel to one another, how many images will form?
2. Conduct a brief research on ‘Monaco 360. How does it celebrate the property of multiple reflection?

PERSISTENCE OF VISION
Even after the object is removed, the impression of an object seen by the
eye remains on the retina for 1/16th of a second. If we see another object
before this time, the impressions of the two merge to give us a sense of
continuity. This eye property is known as persistence of vision.
By presenting a sequence of still images in quick enough succession, the
viewer interprets them as a continuous moving image. This is the same
principle that enables live action film making and projection to work. Film
theorists often refer to this illusion of movement as the persistence of vision.
AFL
1) The given image represents a human eye.
What is the function of the part of the eye that is marked as “X”?
(a) it helps to distinguish between colours
(b) it sends the sensation of the light to the brain
(c) it protects the interior part of the eye from accidents
(d) it helps to control the amount of light that enters the eye
1) A student studies that at the point where optic nerve and the retina meets, there are
no sensory cells. As a result, no vision is possible. Which of these marks the junction
point of the optic nerve and the retina?
(a) Iris
(b) Cornea
(c) Blind spot
(d) Optic nerve
common defects of eye and its
correction
LO: Identifies the common defects of eye and suggest ways to rectify the
defect.
Hands on activity
Materials needed:
Convex lens, Screen, A distant object such as a sign, clock, or tree.
Procedure
Choose a distant object that is visible from the location where the activity
will take place.
Students take turns looking at the distant object without any corrective
lenses or glasses, and note how clearly, they can see it.
Using the convex lens provided, get a clear image of a distant object on
the screen.
Measure the distance between lens and the screen. That is the focal length
of the lens.
By varying the distance between lens and the screen(above and below
the focal length) demonstrate myopia and hypermetropia.
EYE DEFFECTS
Difference between myopia and
hypermetropia
MY TASK
LEVEL 1
In a classroom, there were four or five students who were not able to read the material written
on the board. The other students of the class helped them to sit at the front seat, so that they
could also read the material written on the blackboard. What can be the reason behind it?
What will you recommend to these students and what precautions will you insist them?
LEVEL 2
A person can see objects only when placed at a distance between 50 cm and 300 cm from
their eye. (a) What kind of defect of vision is he suffering from?
(b) What kind of lens will be required to increase his range of vision from 25 cm to infinity?
Explain briefly
LEVEL 3
When schools closed down and switched to distance learning in early 2020, many young
students stayed indoors and spent longer than ever staring at screens up close. Some
ophthalmologists around the country are noticing a spike in children’s vision problems as we
emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
a. Identify the eye defect most likely to occur in this condition.
b. Suggest strategies to help prevent eye problems.
LEVEL 4: Research on unilateral myopia and the treatment options.
Nutrition and eye health
LO: explains the ways to maintain eye health.
A few ways to take care of eye health are:
Technology for coping with visual
impairment
