GENERAL INFORMATION
‘The purpose of the Facet Scavenge Lube Oil Filter is to clean the oil to a much finer
degree than factory equipped strainers. The filter has a 3 micron absolute element.
Located in the line from the engine to the oil cooler, the filter prevents particles from
contaminating the oil cooler and supply tank and re-circulating through the engine.
The filter assembly is equipped with a relief valve that opens when the differential
pressure across the element reaches 121.2 PSID. The bypass indicator extends a red
indicator pin when the valve opens. The pin remains extended until manually reset.
Thermal lockout prevents indicator actuation below 110°15°F.

E966 Rev. MINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR FACET KIT NO. 1741320
EUROCOPTER AS350B, AS350B1, AS350B2, AS350B3 (B3e), AS3S0BA and
EC130B4
General:
This installation can best be accomplished at a time when the craft is in for service.
The filter assemblies were factory tested and may be shipped wet with MIL-L-7808
aircraft turbine engine lubricating oil.
{tis recommended that the installer read through the instructions before starting to
ensure that there will be no problems with completing this installation. Hose
installation and connections vary depending on aircraft model.
Preparation:
This scavenge oil filter kit is designed for Eurocopter Helicopter Corp. Models
‘AS350B, AS350B1, AS350B2, AS350B3 (B3e), AS350BA and EC130B4 equipped
with Turbomeca Arriel engines,
‘A. Disconnect battery.
B. Remove the cowling as required to work in the right-hand transmission
area of the aircraft.
C. Drain engine oil system.
Installation:
1. In right-hand transmission section, remove engine cil outlet hose P/N 704A34-
410-021 connected to the thermal bypass valve inlet fitting. For AS350B3
aircratt, disconnect hose P/N: 668F160005 at thermal bypass valve inlet. Plug
hose and cap bypass valve iniet fitting,
2, Filter and Mounting Bracket installation.
NOTE: Depending on aircraft model and due to variations in the firewall
support member, instructions may vary when attaching filter mounting bracket
to firewall support member. See figure A for typical completed filter mounting
bracket installation,
E-966 Rev. Ma
A. Locate right aft firewall support member. On right and left side of support
that is secured to the deck, remove the 4 rivets each side, closest to the 2
bolts securing support to the deck (8 rivets total). Also remove 2 rivets
outboard of the 2 bolts securing the support to the deck. See Figure’A for
bracket location and rivet reference.
B. Ifinstalled, remove existing 2 bolts securing support member to bracket
mounted on deck. Retain hardware for re-installation.
C. Ifinstalied, remove existing RH OTBD doubler (P/N: 350A58-1521-24)
attached to firewall support. See Figure A.
D. Place filter mounting bracket p/n: 1741061-02 against support member.
Bottom legs of bracket should be centered over previously removed rivet
holes. Support member should be centered on back of filter mounting
bracket.
E. Locate and mark existing holes for rivets and existing bolt holes in firewall
support member on filter mounting plate.
NOTE: Some firewall supports may only incorporate one (1) existing hole.
In this instance, equally space the location for two (2) additional holes on
the support and filter mounting bracket, mark and drill both firewall support
and filter mounting bracket as described in Step D. Installation to conform
to requirements of FAR 43.13. (De-burr, clean, alodine and prime all bare
aluminum surfaces per standard practice).
D. Carefully drill and deburr holes scribed in Step 2E. Drill size 0.203"
diameter. For EC130B4 aircraft, the bottom bracket hole will require a drill
size of .375 diameter.
F. Reinstall filter bracket using new hardware 10 ea. rivets P/N MS20470AD4-
4 (Item 24), bolts P/N: AN3-4A (Item 15), washers P/N AN960-10L (Item 8)
and nuts P/N MS21042-L3 (Item 14). For EC130 B4 aircraft see paragraph
“@
G. For EC130 B4 aircraft secure filter mounting plate using 2 bolts P/N: AN3-
4A (Item 15), washers P/N: AN960-10L (Item 8), and nuts P/N: MS21042-
3 (Item 14) for top two holes and secure bottom hole with bolt P/N:
1762195 (Item 25) and washer P/N: 1762196 (item 26). These items will
replace existing bolt and washer.
F. Install filter assembly P/N 1742500 (Item 1) on bracket, using bolts P/N
