Wopsle’s great aunt at the school. She is an orphan just like Pip, lost her parents
when she was young. She helped Pip in learning how to read and write.

His father had been a heavy drinker, and he had often struck Joe and his mother,
who ran away from him several times and had to work to earn their bread, but
he always brought them back. Joe had to work as blacksmith in place of his lazy
father, and kept his father until he died, and then his mother died soon after.
3- Who is Miss Havisham? Why was pip invited to her house?
She was an extremely rich and strict lady who lived alone in a large dark house.
Pip was invited to her house to play.

Manor House and Satis which is a Greek or Latin word means Enough. It means
who owned this house needs nothing more.
