PROJECT IDENTIFICATION

Developing a vegetable and fruit garden at school

PROJECT TITLE
A PROJECT TO ELIMINATE NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES THROUGH
SCHOOL GARDENING

THEME: NUTRITION IN PLANTS AND ANIMALS

LITERATURE REVIEW
School gardens as a form of nutritional education have become wide spread. It is well known
that children fall short of the daily recommended intake of fruits and vegetables causing
malnutritional symptoms. School garden-based programs show promise as a method of
hands-on learning that promote and increases fruits and vegetable consumption among school
going children (Erin and Amber (2010) child Nutrition and management).
Current academic literature suggests that school gardening programmes can provide an
interactive environment with the potential to change children’s fruit and vegetable intake
(Meaghan S Christian et al (2014) International Journal of Behavioural Nutritional and
Physical Activity 11 (1),99.
The child of the metron looks under nourished like John’s child. This project is designed to
provide a cheap way of providing fruits and vegetables to school going children which is a
source of nutrient solving the problem of malnutrition.

 To increase on consumption of fruits and vegetables among students
 To create awareness of the nutrition composition in vegetables
 To showcase fruits and vegetables in schools
 To earn some money as motivation to some learners

vegetables to school going children which are sources of nutrients solving the problem of
malnutrition.
