This section describes the hardware and software required to load the Scan Workstation
software. It also describes the documentation and other information you should obtain before
starting the installation or upgrade.
IMPORTANT
You should only load one operating system on the Scan Workstation. Errors will occur if
you load multiple operating systems. Also, you should only load the software mentioned in
this guide on the Scan Workstation. Errors can occur if you load third party software
packages.
The configuration and installation instructions in this guide are meant to
maintain the compatibility and integrity of the software. The presence of any
third party software Drivers may interrupt the operation of the software.
Hardware The main hardware requirements are a Scanner and a Scan Workstation. The requirements
Requirements for the Scan Workstation are the same whether you have a DocuImage 620S Scanner or a
65 ppm Production Scanner. The minimum requirements recommended for the Scan
Workstation include:
• 400 MHz Pentium II microprocessor or 466 MHz Celeron microprocessor.
• 128 KB of cache.
• 256 MB of RAM.
• 2.5 GB Hard Drive.
• 8X CD-ROM.
• Video Adapter with 2 MB of video RAM.
• 17” SVGA Monitor.
• 101 AT Type Keyboard with Mouse.
• Necessary cabling.
• 10/100 Network Adapter Card with Driver, 802.3 IEEE compliant, PCI 2.1
compliant interface, installed with RJ-45 Connector.
• Adaptec 29160 Ultra SCSI Adapter, with Driver Version 3.4 interface board,
dedicated PCI SCSI-2 Card installed with an external 68-pin single-ended
interface Connector.
The DocuImage 620S Scanner comes with a SCSI Interface Card,
however, the 65 ppm Production Scanner does not. If you have a 65 ppm
Production Scanner, you must purchase a SCSI Interface Card and
install it in the Scan Workstation before configuring and installing the
Scan Workstation software.
