Physics Notes

The document provides an overview of key concepts in physics, organized into three units: Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Electricity and Magnetism. Each unit covers fundamental principles such as Newton's Laws, thermodynamic laws, and electrical circuits, along with their applications. The notes emphasize the relationships between various physical quantities and the laws governing energy and motion.

Physics Notes

Unit 1: Mechanics - Motion: Distance, Displacement, Speed, Velocity, and

Acceleration. - Newton’s Laws of Motion: 1st Law (Inertia), 2nd Law (F =
ma), 3rd Law (Action-Reaction). - Work, Power, and Energy: Work = Force
× Displacement, Energy (Kinetic and Potential), Law of Conservation of
Energy.

Unit 2: Thermodynamics - Heat and Temperature: Relation through kinetic

energy of particles. - Laws of Thermodynamics: Zeroth Law (thermal
equilibrium), First Law (energy conservation), Second Law (entropy
increases), Third Law (absolute zero unattainable). - Applications: Heat
engines, refrigerators.

Unit 3: Electricity and Magnetism - Electric Current: Flow of charges,

Ohm’s Law (V = IR). - Resistance, Conductance, Series and Parallel
circuits. - Electromagnetism: Magnetic fields due to current,
Electromagnetic induction (Faraday’s Law). - Applications: Transformers,
Motors, Generators.
