Section Details / Content

Skill Lab Title Skill Training Lab on IT Essentials
Experiment Title DATA VISUALISATION
Date of Experiment 25/08/2025
Objective - The aim of this experiment is to understand the importance of data
visualization in analysis and to learn how Tableau connects with
different data sources such as Excel, databases, and the cloud. It also
focuses on using Tableau’s drag-and-drop interface to create charts,
graphs, and interactive dashboards that combine multiple
visualizations.
Apparatus/Equipment Computer
Required Mouse
keyboard
Theory / Concept Presenting data through visuals is a way to turn raw numbers into
graphical or pictorial formats, making it easier to spot patterns, trends,
and insights. Instead of scanning long tables of figures, tools like
charts, graphs, and dashboards help users interpret information and
make decisions more efficiently.
Procedure 1. Start Tableau – Open Tableau Desktop or Tableau Public to
begin.
2. Load a Data Source – Bring in data from Excel, CSV files,
databases, or cloud storage.
3. Arrange Fields – Drag dimensions and measures into the
Rows and Columns sections.
4. Pick a Chart Type – Choose a visualization such as bar, line,
pie, map, or let Tableau recommend one.
5. Customize the View – Add labels, adjust colors, apply filters,
and sort data for better clarity.
6. Build a Dashboard – Organize multiple charts together into a
single dashboard.
7. Enable Interaction – Insert filters, actions, or parameters to
allow dynamic exploration.
8. Store the File – Save the completed workbook on the system.

Observation Data visualised beautifully and appealing to the viewer

Results Data visualised succesfully
Discussion / Analysis 1. Tableau makes analyzing information easier by converting raw
datasets into clear and simple visuals.
2. Compared to conventional spreadsheets, Tableau offers
interactive dashboards that highlight patterns, trends, and
anomalies more effectively.
3. Its drag-and-drop design helps create visualizations quickly,
making it accessible even for beginners.
Conclusion Tableau makes data analysis simple by converting raw data into
interactive visuals. It helps in identifying patterns and trends quickly,
supporting effective decision-making.
Viva Questions 1. Who invented tableau?
2. What is the purpose of using tableau?
3. What kind of role does graphics play while presenting?
