Information in the spaces below. One has been provided as an example. You now have 30

everyone. Thank you all for joining the peer counselor program. I'm sure this will be a precious
experience for all of you. Since most of you are new to this program, i'll now introduce what
counsellors do. In general. The first thing they do is listen to students talking about their
problems. This is really important, because you can then get to know what their problems are
and show that you care about the troubled students. After that, you need to give students some
advice. After all, students talk to counsellors because they can't solve their problems
independently. So they need your advice. Any questions so far? Mister feng.

Yes. Reporting to teacher counselors is one of the peer counselors, general responsibilities. I'll
bring this up again later. Now you've learned what counsellors do. I'll introduce the 3 kinds of
counseling our center offers. First is the online chat session where you can get a basic
understanding of each student's problems and arrange for a follow up telephone session if
needed. On average, an online chat session is about 20 minutes long. A phone session, on the
other hand, is a little longer. It usually lasts around half an hour. If a counselor thinks the problem
can't be solved over the phone, they'll recommend that the student come in for a face to face
counseling session, a face to face session usually takes about an hour. It is double the length of a
phone session. Mister feng,

I'm curious about how peer counsellors handle each case. Could you tell us more about that?
Sure.

There are a few steps. First of all, you'll handle phone counseling. If phone counseling doesn't
work, you have to decide whether a caller needs face to face counseling. If a face to face session
is needed, you have to make an appointment for the student. After that, you need to report the
case to the teacher counsellors by submitting a report to the school system。

system is quite user friendly. Great.

You can teach those who haven't done this before.

Sorry to interrupt mister feng. What if a student doesn't want to come in for a face to face
session?

That's a good question. Some students are afraid to do so. You can first tell them that face to face
sessions are most effective. If they still refuse to come in, try to advise them on the phone. The
key here is to first try to persuade them that personal contact is what is most effective, but don't
force them if they refuse. Keep advising them on the phone. It will help show them your respect
and thus build trust. Is that clear? Thank you.

face?

Andy, I don't know about everyone else, but I get most stressed out by schoolwork. So I'd say
schoolwork, very true.

The most common problems that students encounter are related to schoolwork. Almost all
students are stressed out by this. The second most common student problem is bullying. Sadly, a
lot of students fall victim to bullying and come to us for help.

How about friendship and romantic relationships? Aren't those common problems for young
people, too?

[Link] 说话者 2:
Yes, you're right. Romantic relationships are the third most common problem that students come
to us with for counseling. This is followed by problems related to friends. Okay. Let's take a break
before I move on to.
