Rebuilding The Altar

Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord using twelve stones representing the twelve tribes of Israel. He took wood and cut a bull into pieces to sacrifice it on the newly constructed altar. The document then introduces six "stones" that we must use to rebuild our personal altar with God: faith, humility, sincerity, prayer, sacrifice, and praise. It briefly explains how each of these stones is necessary to restore our fellowship with God.

REBUILDING THE ALTAR 1

1 KINGS 18:30 Then Elijah said to all the people: Come near to me. And all the people
he approached him; and he repaired the altar of the Lord that was in ruins.

31Y taking Elías twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of
Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had been given saying, Israel shall be your name,
32 he built an altar with the stones in the name of Jehovah; afterwards he made a
ditch around the altar, that could hold two measures of grain.
Then he prepared the firewood, and cut the ox into pieces, and laid it on the firewood.

INTRODUCTION: THE ALTAR WAS ONE OF THE MAIN FURNITURE ITEMS IN THE
TABERNACLE OF MEETING THAT THE LORD COMMANDED MOSES TO BUILD IN THE
DESERT.
THE ALTAR SYMBOLICALLY REPRESENTED THE PRESENCE OF GOD AND THE
COMMUNION WITH GOD, THAT IS WHY THE FIRE ON THE ALTAR HAD TO BURN
CONTINUOUSLY, IT SHOULD NEVER TURN OFF.

LET'S SEE TONIGHT THE FIRST 6 STONES WE SHOULD USE IN

OUR LIFE TO REBUILD OUR PERSONAL ALTAR WITH OUR GOD AND
IGNITING THE FIRE OF THE SPIRIT IN OUR LIFE MORE AND MORE.

FE
HUMILITY
SINCERITY
PRAYER
SACRIFICE
PRAISE

FIRST STONE OF OUR ALTAR: FAITH

HEBREWS 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please God; for it is necessary that the
He who draws near to God must believe that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

THE WORD OF GOD IS CLEAR: WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD, IF

WE WANT TO HAVE COMMUNION WITH GOD, I MUST APPROACH HIM WITH FAITH.
We must understand that as children of God we can try to
ENLARGING IT BY CHANGING OUR LIFE, GIVING UP A HABIT, CUTTING OFF A
ADULTERY, ETC.
BUT IF WE DO NOT HAVE FAITH, IF WE DOUBT HIS POWER OR HIS LOVE, WE DO NOT
We are pleasing.
SECOND STONE OF OUR ALTAR: HUMILITY
Psalm 138:6 For the Lord is high, and regards the lowly, but the proud He knows from afar.
far away.
Just as it is impossible to please God without faith, it is also impossible
Approaching God without humility.
AT THE ALTAR OF THE TABERNACLE THE OFFERING OF ANIMALS WAS BURNED TO
LORD, THEY WERE COMPLETELY CONSUMED, UNTIL ONLY ASHES REMAINED (LEVITICUS
6:10
THIRD STONE OF OUR ALTAR: SINCERITY
Psalm 51:1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your mercy; According to the
the multitude of your mercies wipes away my rebellions. Wash me more and more from my wickedness, and
cleanse me of my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is
always in front of me.
I CANNOT REBUILD MY ALTAR IF I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THAT WE HAVE SINS IN
OUR LIFE, IF WE DO NOT RECOGNIZE THAT WE HAVE WEAKNESSES, INIQUITIES, AND
THINGS THAT CAUSE US SHAME THAT MUST BE BURNED IN IT
ALTAR OF OUR COMMUNION WITH GOD.

FOURTH STONE OF OUR ALTAR: PRAYER

Revelation 8:3 Another angel came and stood at the altar, with a censer
of gold; and a lot of incense was given to add to the prayers of all the saints,
about the golden altar that was before the throne.
THERE IS NO COMMUNION WITH GOD WITHOUT PRAYER, IN HEAVEN IS THE ALTAR WHERE
LASTLY SPILLED LIKE INCENSE ARE THE PRAYERS OF US, YOUR SAINTS.
Every person who becomes spiritually cold, every Christian.
WHO HAS ALLOWED THE FIRE OF COMMUNION WITH THE LORD TO EXTINGUISH, MUST
ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE NEGLECTED PRAYER, THAT YOU HAVE NEGLECTED YOUR TIME
WITH GOD.
FIFTH STONE OF OUR ALTAR: SACRIFICE
2 SAMUEL 24:22 And Araunah said to David: Let my lord the king take and offer what is good in his sight.
It seems; here are oxen for the burnt offering, and the threshing sleds and the yokes of the oxen
for firewood. 23 All of this, oh king, Araunah gives to the king. Then Araunah said to the king: Jehovah
May God be favorable to you. 24And the king said to Araunah: No, but I will buy it from you at a price;
for I will not offer to Jehovah my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing. Then
David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. And David built there.
an altar to the Lord, and he sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings; and the Lord heard the
supplications of the land, and the plague ceased in Israel.

AT THE ALTAR, ANIMAL SACRIFICES WERE MADE TO GOD, AT OUR ALTAR

PERSONAL THERE IS SOMETHING WE HAVE TO SACRIFICE FROM OUR LIFE
A sacrifice is something that costs, it is something that is not easy to do, the king.
DAVID GIVES US A TREMENDOUS LESSON TO CHRISTIANS, FOR HE TOLD THE
MAN WHO WAS GIVING EVERYTHING TO OFFER A SACRIFICE TO THE LORD

SIXTH STONE OF OUR ALTAR: PRAISE

PSALM 50:14 Offer to God a sacrifice of praise, and pay your vows to the Most High; 15 And call upon me in
The day of anguish; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.

THERE IS A SACRIFICE THAT EACH ONE OF US CAN OFFER TO THE LORD:

PRAISE, WHEN THE NORMAL THING WOULD BE TO COMPLAIN, TO GET ANGRY, LET'S SAY: LORD
I LOVE YOU!!!

CONCLUSION:
IT'S TIME TO START
IT'S TIME TO RESTORE
IT'S TIME TO GO BACK TO HIM
