Utopia

Saint Thomas More, English politician and writer, was born on February 7, 1478. He is
mainly known for his religious stance contrary to that of King Henry VIII,
what cost him his life in 1535, and for having been one of the greatest representatives
of the Renaissance in England. His most well-known work is Utopia and its theme is that of
a perfect nation in which coexistence is based on respect, harmony,
justice and equity.

nation with completely opposite characteristics to those of its country. When comparing
Utopia against England in fifteen hundred we can see these marked poles

For the inhabitants of Utopia, work is a source of satisfaction and a
pleasure, unlike how most people consider it.

As can be seen, this great work, written in a cheerful prose, is merely a

reflection of what Moro experienced:

An absolutist monarchy, a dissatisfied and poor country ruled by a king

selfish and an unfair and favoritist policy.

I found it very interesting to read this book and I liked it a lot. It seems to me that
this idea that Moro has of a perfect republic is very beautiful, however,

during the beginnings of the Renaissance. I believe this is a book that could have
to transcend in time, since injustice and discontent will always be
characteristics of a society.
