Request for a dated and signed transcript by the French parent(s) (see below)
Original of the British birth certificate said Certified Copy of an Entry of Birth (and not the certificate)

Original birth certificates of the parents:
British: certified copy of an entry of birth (and not the certificate of birth) (1) (2)
full copy dated for the current year
other nationalities: full certified copy or apostille accompanied by its translation in French
or possibly in English

Photocopy the proof of French nationality of the applicant(s) (of your choice):
Valid national identity card
Biometric passport
Certificate of French nationality
Birth certificate or family record book with a mention regarding nationality
Extension of the naturalization decree
Declaration of acquisition of French nationality

A mandatory self-addressed A5 envelope:


if you are based in the United Kingdom: postage at the Special Delivery or Recorded rate
Delivery (5 first class stamps)
if you are based outside the United Kingdom: postage for registered mail for 100 grams or in
international coupons (for sale at the post office)
no checks or cash

If applicable:
Family record book: to register the child's birth
In case of name selection: completed and signed declaration as well as a photocopy of the passport of
foreign parent (4)
Full copy of the act of paternal or maternal acknowledgment

The originals will be returned at the end of the transcription of the British birth certificate.

If the document is neither in French nor in English, a translation by a sworn translator is required, accompanied by
