ASSQ-REV Screening Questionnaire For Autism Spectrum

The Autism Spectrum Screening Questionnaire (revised extended version) (ASSQ-REV) is designed for children aged 6 to 16 and consists of 45 items scored on a scale from 0 to 2. It aims to identify potential autism spectrum disorder (ASD) characteristics by comparing scores to averages from various diagnosed groups. The questionnaire does not provide specific cut-off scores for diagnosis but suggests consulting a health professional if scores are similar to those of clinical populations.

Autism Spectrum Screening Questionnaire

(extended revised version)(ASSQ-REV)
The Autism Spectrum Screening Questionnaire (revised extended version) (ASSQ-REV)
has been obtained in the following publication:

Kopp, S.:Girls with social and/or attention impairmentsInstitute of Neuroscience at

Sahlgrenska Academy 2010

It is a questionnaire formed by combining the questionnaires.ASSQyASSQ-GIRLYou should

consult the pages of those questionnaires to gather more details about their characteristics.

How to interpret the result?

The Autism Spectrum Screening Questionnaire (revised extended version) is administered
to girls and boys aged 6 to 16 years. The questionnaire presents 45 items that are scored
choosing between the options No, Something and Yes, associated with the numerical values of 0, 1 and 2
respectively:

No
Normality.
Something
Indicate some level of alteration.
Yes
Define an alteration.

The total score ranges from 0 to 90. The authors of the questionnaire have not established points for
cut, that is to say, scores that allow classifying the level of impact according to the score
obtained. What we have is the result obtained by administering the questionnaire to
various population groups. These groups are as follows:

Girls diagnosed with ASD

Girls diagnosed with ADHD

Children diagnosed with ASD

Boys diagnosed with ADHD

Girls for control group, without previous diagnoses

The following are the averages obtained by these different groups (with deviation
standard in parentheses:

control
38.7 (± 13.4) 22.3 (± 8.9) 38.5 (± 14.5) 23.5 (± 15.3) 4.3 (± 4.6)

The way to interpret the score obtained after completing the questionnaire is
compare it with the average obtained in the cited experiments. If the result obtained is
similar to or higher than the average obtained by one of the clinical population groups we will be
in the face of a case that advises consulting a health professional.
