Subject: CBSE Reading Challenge 2025-26
Dear Principal,
CBSE Reading Challenge 2025-26 is an initiative aimed at fostering a sustained interest in
reading and offering a unique opportunity to deepen literacy and analytical skills among students.
It is a thoughtfully designed to develop not only foundational reading abilities but also higher-
order literacy skills empowering students to synthesise information, draw logical conclusions,
and critically evaluate the relevance and credibility of texts.
The students from classes 6 to10 of the schools affiliated to CBSE can take part in this
enrichment activity. There is NO FEE for this student enrichment activity.
Timeline: August, September and October, 2025
There will be two rounds of the activity.
First Round:
1. All participating schools may register for this round.
2. It will be conducted offline at the school level.
3. For details, kindly refer to Annexure-1.
Second Round:
1. Participating schools may nominate and register top ten performing students, comprising
two students from each class (6,7,8,9,10) one each for both English and Hindi categories.
(For participation in Hindi language it is mandatory for schools to type student
name and school name in Hindi only. To type in Hindi, schools must have “Google
Input Tools” installed in their computer).
2. The second round will be conducted online through CBSE Reading Challenge portal.
3. For details, kindly refer to Annexure-1.
Language Options: - The Reading challenge will be conducted in both Hindi and English
languages. One student per class can participate in one language only.
Categories of Participation:
Category I: Classes (6 to7)
Category II: Classes (8 to10)

‘Participation Certificate’ by the Board. Outstanding performers will be awarded ‘Certificate of
Appreciation’ in recognition of their achievement.

interest in reading with understanding.

The timeline and steps for participation are mentioned below:
A. Round One/First Stage
Time Action
18.08.2025 to 01.09.2025 Schools affiliated to CBSE may register students for
Reading Challenge Round -I:
Classes (6 to7) and (8 to 10)
In Hindi and English
Registration link will be available at: www.cbse.gov.in ,
www.cbseacademic.nic.in
08.09.2025 to 11.09.2025 Question papers along with scoring criteria will be made
available on the portal to the registered schools to download.
The Schools shall download the papers of Round -1 and
conduct the challenge offline.
Schools should identify top ten performing students:
➤ 2 each from classes 6,7,8,9,10
➤ For both Hindi and English challenges
If more than ten students perform equally well, schools
may conduct an additional screening test to select top ten
students).
15.09.2025 to 26.09.2025 Schools shall register the selected top ten performing
students for Round-II through the link available on the CBSE
Academic Website.
(Each school may nominate one student per class in
one language only).
B. Round Two/Second Stage
08.10.2025, 09.10.2025, 13.10.2025 CBSE will conduct a computer-based Reading Challenge
and 14.10.2025 for the registered students of Round -II
Only schools that completed Round-I and registered
students for Round-II will be eligible to participate.
Important Note: Detailed guidelines/instructions for conducting the above activities will be shared
on their official cbseshiksha email id one week prior only with schools that register students for
Round -II of the challenge .
C. Declaration of Result
The results of the winners of Round Two will be notified on the CBSE Academic website.

1. School login using their LOC credentials.
2. School may enter details of the coordinator and computer infrastructure. Question
Paper of Round-I will be downloadable only for schools which fill this information.

3. For Round-I schools can download Question Paper and Answer Key for all categories language wise.
4. After completion of Round-I, the school has to fill student participation details of Round-I before
entering registration details of students for Round-II.

5. For Round-II participating schools may register top 10 performing students, two students from
each class, one each for both English and Hindi categories. For participation in Hindi language,
it is mandatory for schools to students name in the Hindi only. To type in Hindi, school must have
“Google Input Tools” installed in their computer system.
6. After filling the details of the students for Round-II school shall logout from portal.
