Job Description (JD)

Position Title: Intern – Data Entry & Program Support


Location: Lodwar, Turkana County, Kenya
Duration: 6 months (Intern, Stipend-supported)
Project: Global Fund TB Project GC7
Reporting to: Project Coordinator

Overall Purpose of the Role

The intern will support World Relief Kenya’s Global Fund TB Project in Turkana by ensuring accurate,
timely, and complete entry of community and facility TB program data into the reporting systems. He/she
will also assist in the overall implementation of project activities, including coordination with stakeholders,
monitoring, and fieldwork support.

The role is designed to strengthen project reporting and operational efficiency, while also providing the intern
with practical experience in data management, public health program implementation, and community-based
health systems strengthening.

Key Responsibilities

Data Entry & Management

• Accurately enter TB-related data into designated reporting systems (Business Central, TIBU, and
internal project databases).
• Verify completeness and consistency of data received from Community Health Promoters (CHPs),
Health Care Workers, and partner facilities.
• Assist in compiling and updating project data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
• Maintain an updated filing system (soft and hard copy) of project data, registers, and reports.
• Support data cleaning, analysis, and feedback dissemination to facilities and communities.

Project Implementation Support

• Provide logistical and administrative support during trainings, outreaches, and supervision activities.
• Support community-based TB activities including contact tracing, defaulter tracing, TB screening
outreaches, and sensitization sessions.
• Assist in monitoring project activities and compiling field reports.
• Support communication and coordination with government counterparts (County/ Sub-County
MoH), community structures, and other stakeholders.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator in line with the Global Fund TB
project objectives.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• A diploma in Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Health, or related field.


Degree will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of data collection tools and reporting systems (e.g., BC, TIBU, MS Excel).
• At least 6 months of prior experience in data entry, health projects, or monitoring & evaluation
(internship or voluntary experience counts).
• Good understanding of TB prevention, care, and control programs is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders.

Terms of Reference (ToR)

Role Title: Intern – Data Entry & Program Support

Period of Assignment: 6 months

Duty Station: Lodwar, with travel to sub-counties as required

Scope of Work

The intern will:

1. Support the Global Fund TB Project team in data management, ensuring accuracy, completeness,
and timely entry of reports from facilities and community structures.
2. Assist in the implementation of TB interventions across Turkana including TB screening
outreaches, health education, contact and defaulter tracing, and training sessions.
3. Provide administrative and logistical support during stakeholder meetings, trainings, and
supervisions.
4. Work closely with Sub-County TB Coordinators, Community Health Assistants (CHAs),
CHPs, and Health Care Workers to ensure smooth flow of data and project activities.
5. Participate in project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) by assisting in compilation of field
reports, success stories, and lessons learned.
6. Adhere to ethical standards of data handling and maintain confidentiality of patient and project
information.

Deliverables
• Timely and accurate entry of TB project data into reporting systems (weekly/monthly).
• Monthly compiled and validated TB data sets for submission to the Project Coordinator.
• Field activity reports and documentation of key implementation activities supported.
• Evidence of support in TB screening, tracing, and community mobilization activities.
• Contribution to quarterly/annual donor and MoH reports.

Duration & Commitment

• The intern will serve for 6 months, renewable only upon mutual agreement and availability of funds.
• Expected to work full-time (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm) with flexibility to work
weekends/public holidays when required by project activities.

Supervision & Reporting

• Directly reports to the Project Coordinator – Global Fund TB Project, Turkana.


• Works in collaboration with the M&E Officer, Project officer, Sub-County TB Coordinators, and
other stakeholders.

Stipend & Support

• A modest monthly stipend will be provided to cover basic expenses-Kes 10,000


• Communication and transport support for field activities will be provided in line with World Relief’s
volunteer policies.
