 Creating a new word document
 Saving a word document using a password

Tool Shortcut Used for
Copy Ctrl+C Copy text from one place
Cut Ctrl + X Remove entire text to move it to
new place
Paste Ctrl+V Place the copied / cut text
Format Painter Ctrl+Shift+C Use Ctrl+Shift+V to paste. It
copies the text formatting to be
applied to another text
Font Ctrl+Shift+F Changes the appearance of the
text
Font size Ctrl+Shift+P Increase the size of text
Increase Font Size Ctrl+Shift+> Increases font size
Reduces Font Size Ctrl+Shift+< Reduces font size
Change case Shift+ any Change from capital letters to
letter small letter
Clear All Sets text back to original

Bold Ctrl+B Makes selected text bold

Practical learning

1. Create a folder on the desktop and name it practice1.


2. Create a Microsoft word document inside the folder created above and
name it file1.
3. Open file1 and type the following text =rand() then press Enter
key on the keyboard
4. Save the file with a password password1. (Hint: Click File and choose
Save As)
5. Close the text and open it again. If prompted for password enter it
6. Select the entire text (Ctrl+A) copy it Ctrl+C. Create a new page (Hint:
Click at the end of the page and press Ctrl+Enter on keyboard. Click
Ctrl+V to paste the copied text.
7. Repeat No. 6 three times
8. Add a title on the first page MY FIRST LESSON, make it bold,
underlined with double blue color and font size 32.
9. Justify the entire text (Hint: press Ctrl +A to select entire text then
Ctrl+J to justify the text) Make the title Centred (Hint: Select only Title
and press Ctrl+E)

10. Change the entire text to font Lucida Bright, size 13.5
11. Change the paragraphs on page 2 to bullets of your choice
12. Change the paragraphs on page 3 to numbering style of your
choice
13. Increase the indent of paragraph 1 on page 1 to middle
14. Change lines spacing of the entire text to 1.5 and paragraph
spacing before 6pt and after 12 pt
15. Add different background colors to various paragraphs
16. Add borders to at least 3 paragraps
17. Save your work
18. Copy the entire text Ctrl+A
19. Open a new document Ctrl+N and paste Ctrl+V the text in it. Save
it as duplicate in the folder practice1.
