ANSWER KEY FOR ACTIVITY #3

1. What is the process of Photosynthesis.

- This is the process of photosynthesis by which plants make their own food
using sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. The leaves of the plant contain
green pigment called Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll capture sunlight and Stomata
captures Carbon dioxide and roots extracts water and the photosynthesis
takes place in the leaves of the plant.

2. What happens during the process of Photosynthesis?

- Carbon dioxide enters through the stomata on the underside of the leaf.
Water is absorbed by the root hair cells and is transported to the leaf by the
xylem vessels. Sunlight provides the energy needed for photosynthesis to
take place. In this process carbon dioxide and water are converted into
oxygen
ANSWER KEY FOR ACTIVITY #2

1. What does a plant need to survive?

-Plants need air, light, warmth, water and nutrients to be healthy. If they are
healthy, they can continue making their own food through photosynthesis.
-All plants need space to grow, the right temperature, light, water, air,
nutrients, and time.
-Plants can do an amazing thing: They make their own food using just water,
sunlight, and carbon dioxide.

2. How plant helps the environment? Cite at least 5 roles of

plants in our environment.

-Plants improve the environment in many ways, like releasing oxygen into the
atmosphere, absorbing carbon dioxide, providing nutrients to animals, and
regulating the water cycle — all things we need to sustain life on Earth.

- Plants provide nutrients to all living organisms in either a direct or indirect

manner. They balance the ecosystem by the release of oxygen and absorbing
carbon dioxide and improve the air quality. They provide shelter to organisms.
Plants can prevent soil erosion.

- They provide us with a variety of things to fulfil our daily requirements, including
food to eat, air to breathe, clothes to cover our body, wood, medicine, shelter, and
many products for human benefit. Plants are the primary producers, and all other
living organisms on this planet depend on plants.

“GENERALIZATION”

-Let the students give their generalizations based on the picture below and by
answering the following questions:

1. What is the main source of energy for photosynthesis?

-Sunlight
-Photosynthesis is the process through which plants convert sunlight, water, and
carbon dioxide into oxygen and sugar energy. The term "photosynthesis" thus refers
to synthesis from light. So it is clear that the energy for photosynthesis comes from
light.

2. Why do plants need light energy, water and carbon dioxide?

-Plants use a process called photosynthesis to make food. During photosynthesis,
plants trap light energy with their leaves. Plants use the energy of the sun to change
water and carbon dioxide into a sugar called glucose.
- Plants use sunlight, carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and water for
photosynthesis to produce oxygen and carbohydrates that plants use for energy and
growth.

3. Why is photosynthesis important to ecosystems?

-They use the process of photosynthesis to transform water, sunlight, and carbon
dioxide into oxygen, and simple sugars that the plant uses as fuel. These primary
producers form the base of an ecosystem and fuel the next trophic levels. Without this
process, life on Earth as we know it would not be possible.

ACTIVITY #3: “DRAW THE PROCESS”

MATERIALS:

1. marker and pencil

2. Cartolina paper
3. Crayons

Instructions:

-The Teacher will give 10 minutes to perform the activity.

-The students will draw or sketch how the process of Photosynthesis takes place.
-Students can used their phones/ gadgets to research the process of how
photosynthesis takes place. They can use crayons and other materials to utilize and
make their work more colorful and attractive.

-Within the same group from Activity 1, they will present and explain their work based
on the following questions:

2. What is the process of Photosynthesis.

3. What happens during the process of Photosynthesis?

-Students will be graded based on the rubric presented.

EXPLAIN:

-The following questions can be asked by the teacher.

Questions:

1. What is Photosynthesis?
2. Do you ever wonder how this process takes place?
3. What are the three things that are needed for Photosynthesis?
4. What are the different process of photosynthesis?
5. What is the importance of Photosynthesis?
1. What is Photosynthesis?

-Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction that takes place inside a plant, producing food for the
plant to survive.

-Photosynthesis happens in the leaves of a plant.

- The main function of photosynthesis is to allow plants to make their food by converting light
energy from the sun into chemical energy. The manufactured food is utilized for survival by
plants and other living things, including humans and animals.

2. Do you ever wonder how this process takes place?

-Carbon dioxide, water and light are all needed for photosynthesis to take place.

3. Based from the video you watched, What are the three things that are needed
for Photosynthesis?

Carbon dioxide, water and light.

4. What are the different process of photosynthesis?

-The process of photosynthesis Plants need food to respire, grow and reproduce. Unlike
animals, plants are able to make their own food by the process of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis takes place in the part of the plant cell containing chloroplasts, these are small
structures that contain chlorophyll. For photosynthesis to take place, plants need to take in
carbon dioxide (from the air), water (from the ground) and light (usually from the sun).

1. What is the importance of Photosynthesis?

-The purpose and importance of photosynthesis are that it plays a role in the carbon cycle,
provides oxygen and food to humans and animals.

- It ensures that all living species have access to oxygen in the atmosphere.

-It keeps the ecosystem's oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in check.
-Plants are the source of fossil fuels.

-The energy we get from the food we eat originally came from plants, which absorbed energy
from the sun. Photosynthesis is also important because of the oxygen it produces. They
recycle the carbon dioxide we breathe out and turn it back into oxygen so that we never run
out.
