Sample Problem Set 7

3.4. A 50Ω lossless transmission line is terminated with the load 𝑍𝐿 = 100 − 𝑗100 Ω.
(a) Find Γ?
(b) Find the Standing Wave Ratio?
(c) Find Input impedance of the line for L = 0.125𝜆, 0.25𝜆

3.5. Find the input impedance of the cascaded transmission line terminated at 200 Ω resistor.
Line1: 𝑍! = 50Ω, 𝐿 = 0.75𝜆
Line2: 𝑍! = 100Ω, 𝐿 = 0.25𝜆

3.6. A 50-ohm lossless transmission line with the electrical length of 5/8 is terminated with the
load 150 ohms. The line is fed by a non-ideal source with voltage 10 V, with the 50-ohm resistance.
Find the sending and receiving voltages.

3.13. Input impedance of 80 Ω transmission line terminated with unknown load 𝑍L. with electrical
length of 3/8 is measured to be 64 − 𝑗48 Ω at f1. Find the input impedance of the line at f2 = 2f1
assuming the input and characteristic impedances remain unchanged.

3.16. Two cascaded transmission lines are connected in series with the shunt impedance of 𝑍𝑝 =
𝑗50 Ω between them. The first line has impedance of 𝑍01 = 50 Ω and electrical length of 7/4. The
second line has impedance of 𝑍02 = 50 Ω and electrical length of 5/8 terminated with the load 𝑍𝐿
= 100 − 𝑗50 Ω. Find the input impedance of the system.
