tabs, breaks; and changing the margins, page orientation, and size. You
can also apply borders and shading effects to a page.

To set the indentation of a page, follow these steps.
1. Place the cursor anywhere in the paragraph you want to indent.
2. To open the Paragraph dialog box, click on the dialog box
launcher arrow in the Paragraph group of the Layout tab.
3. In the Indentation section (Fig. 4.5), set the left and right indents

SETTING TABS
Tab is used as a formatting feature in Microsoft Word. It can be used to
indent a paragraph. If you press the lab key, the curSor moves forward
by 1.27 cm (0.5 inch). This is the default setting. To change the default
setting for Tab, followthese steps.
1. Open the Paragraph dialog box by clicking on the dialog box
launcher in the Paragraph group of the Layout tab.

The word "tab" is derived from the Latin term "tabulate". It means to arrange

ADDING COLUMNS

Have you ever noticed how text in newspapers and magazines are
displayed? It is arranged in columns. A column is a vertical display of
text. Microsoft Word provides the option of aligning text in two or more
columns.

INSERTING BREAKS

Adding breaks in between text in a line, column, or page is another


formatting option provided by Word. It helps to make the Word
document more structured.

Line Break
Youcan use a line break to move the cursor to the next line without
breaking the paragraph. To insert a line break, follow these steps.
1. Place the cursor where you want to insert the line break.
2. Press Shift and Enter keys together.

Pressing Enter will insert a new paragraph in the document
while pressing Shift + Enter will insert a new line within the
same paragraph.

Column Break
You can insert a column break to start a new column. The text inserted
after the column break will be added to the next column. To insert a
column break, folow these steps.
1. Place the cursor where you want to insert the column break.
2. Click on the Breaks button in the Page Setup group of the
Layout tab.
3. Click on Column from the drop-down menu. A column break will
be inserted.

PAGE ORIENTATION
The way a Word document is displayed and printed is called page
orientation. The two types of page orientation are portrait and landscape
Portrait: The document is displayed vertically. This means that the
height of the page is more than its width (Fig. 4.13 a).
* Landscape: The document is displayed horizontally. This means
that the width of the page is more than its height (Fig. 4.13 b).
To change the page orientation, follow these steps.
1. Click on the Orientation option in the Page Setup group of the
Layout tab.
2. Click on Portrait or Landscape option from the drop-down menu.

HEADER AND FOOTER


Header is text or an image that appears at the top margin of a page.
Footer is text or an image that appears at the bottom margin of a page.
If you want to insert some content at the top or bottom of every page
in the document, you can

PAGE BORDER AND COLOUR


You can add borders and apply colour to a page in Microsoft Word.
It makes the page look more appealing.

Page Border
A border is an outline around apage. It can be aline in various
styles and colours or decorative objects. To add a page border, follow
these steps.
1. Click on the Page Borders button in the Page
Background group
of the Design tab.
2. The Borders and Shading dialog box appears (Fig. 4.18).
Select
the Style, Color, and Width of the border from the Page Border
tab of the dialog box.
3. You can also click on the Art drop-down button and select any
artistic border to apply to your page.

SHADING
You can apply different background colours to the selected text. This
is known as Shading. To apply Shading to the text on a page, follow
these steps.
1. Select the text on which you want to apply the background colour

Steps:
1, Open a blank document in Microsoft Word 2019. Click
on the Header option in the Header & Footer group of
the Insert tab.
2. Select a header option from the drop-down menu. Type 'My India,
My Pride' as the header text. Double-click outside the header area to
apply the header.

3. Now, select Page Number option from the Header & Footer group of
the Insert tab.

4, Click on the Bottom of Page option. Select a style.


5. Double-click outside the footer area to apply the footer.
6. Click on the Page Borders option from the Page Background group of
the Design tab. The Borders and Shading dialog box appears.
7. Select astyle, colour, and width for the page border, or, click on the
Art drop-down list to choose an artistic border. Click on OK.
8. Enter the main text in the document and save.
